I don't understand the pessimism. We are improved across the board since last year's meeting except for the big loss at RB but I would argue improved OL + Brooks is a wash compared to last year. We are also significantly healthier than when we played Baylor last season. They are a legit top ten team so we could end up losing but damn right we should be favored at home.

You are misinterpreting about a emotional hedge bet. I agree with everything you said, except the part about being favored at home. I think that is an overreaction to the USF game. BYU looked great, but that is a bad team. If the the score had been 38-21 (I know, ifs and buts) I think Baylor would be favored by 3. From a betting perspective it is a value bet. From an emotion perspective, it helps offset some of the pain of a loss. At the end of the day I would be ecstatic to lose a Benjamin and see BYU crush the Bears.

Are you implying Omaha knows the refs and could get them some extra spending money for favorable in game calls? Put me down for $100 as well. It's a good cause.

I don’t have enough evidence to say we’ve improved at OL. Empey was no slacker. And I didn’t watch Kingsley close enough last game.

That brooks (and Katoa) had good games may ne a reflection of USF more than marked improvement.

i do think Jaren has leveled up.

They look good. They're healthy, and they're deep. I feel great about the OL. Agree about Hall. He's looking good, except for that one pass. But I'd like to see what he does against stronger D's.

12 hours later when I quit thinking like a 14YO, and mocking players. I’m very impressed by what Jarin did to go embrace/console Oldroyd. All the post game interviews with players all had the same vibe “we all make mistakes. Jake’s are just more visible”

What surprised me about the misses is how clutch he has has been in previous years. In fact I would rank those at least as the 3-4 most pressure filled kicks he has attempted

                          1) Tennessee after miraculous pass from Wilson. That place was LOUD and crazy
                          2) Arizona as a freshman to win the game
                          3) Utah last year to ice the game
                          4) Probably forgetting something

I know I am a squish, but I was really touched by what Jaren did. That is great leadership and character.

In the post-game, Kalani said that in the locker room after the game he called Oldroyd up to the front and told him that he did some great things in the game and he has done so much for the program over the years and that they all love him. I love the culture that Kalani has built.

I'm kind of worried all the attention on this, both the good and bad, screws with him mentally even more.
