guy on CB was kind enough to remind everybody of the BC game when bronco punted from the BC 36 yard line on 4th and 3 down 17-3 with 8 minutes to play in the game - resulted in a touchback. and two possessions prior to that BYU punted from the BC 34 yard line - also a touchback. painful.
and if this post doesn't get cardiaccoug's ears ringing and bring him back here, nothing will.I'm like LeBron James.

I was at that game and boo’d him for that. Then he had the gall to act all butthurt at getting boo’d. It was a stupid decision and still is. That game was his very first game in 2005, when the football world was just starting to clue in on how much more teams ought to go for it on 4th down. I think if he were in that same position today he would go for it.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

I remember after that game somebody on CB posted a very nice looking graphic memoralizing the life of BYU football, born in 1971 and died in 2002. It was hard to argue with that. He really turned things around for us.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

And with a bend don't break defense, maybe you should onside kick every time.Originally posted by All-American View Post

That game was the day after my wedding. I had it on in the background in the hotel during breakfast but my mind was on, uh, other things so I didn't pay a ton of attention. I knew Bronco had been booed in that game because he whined about it all the time but I never knew the details until this post. Is this what led to the boos? If so he deserved it.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View Postguy on CB was kind enough to remind everybody of the BC game when bronco punted from the BC 36 yard line on 4th and 3 down 17-3 with 8 minutes to play in the game - resulted in a touchback. and two possessions prior to that BYU punted from the BC 34 yard line - also a touchback. painful.

Oh come on. You don't need any kind of data analytics for a decision like that.Originally posted by All-American View PostThat game was his very first game in 2005, when the football world was just starting to clue in on how much more teams ought to go for it on 4th down. I think Bronco is a good dude who did good things for BYU while he was here. He was a bit of a weirdo as well. I do have to admit that I loved how much he got under Utah fans skin - particularly a co-worker relation of All-American's.
I appreciated how he attempted to make the honor code a strength instead of just assuming it was a weakness and barrier to recruiting.
I think it's funny that guys like Alex Kirry on KSL who did the mid-week coaches show with him week after week talk about how painful the experience was. Bronco didn't even remember his name from one week to the next in spite of the number of times they got together and apparently wasn't capable of having a personable conversation between segments or before or after the show. It's particularly funny in light of how much so many of his players love him.
I am glad Bronco coached at BYU and helped regain respect after the Crowton years. It was a good time for him to leave when he left. I think he's a good coach, but I'm OK that he's gone from BYU.
I'm not much of a booer - so I wouldn't boo Bronco if I was there Saturday. I'd be more prone to a kind golf clap out of respect for the time he was at BYU, followed by a butt kicking on the football field after.

That is funny. And terrible form for a head coach at any school. I am guessing it is the exact opposite with Kalani.Originally posted by Eddie View PostI think it's funny that guys like Alex Kirry on KSL who did the mid-week coaches show with him week after week talk about how painful the experience was. I've never understood why some college coaches can't be polite people, even if they are just pretending. It obviously is easier if you are sincere, but the job is part politician and part marketing every appearance you make so why not put on a smile? But is seems to be very binary. They are either personable or kind of jerks. This has also been my experience on the sidelines with high school coaches. They are either respectful and reasonable (even if they are intense) or total dicks. There is no in between.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

I'm a little surprised by this. Bronco has never seemed natural in large group settings. He comes across as robotic. His personality always seemed better suited for a coordinator than HC, to me. I think he is naturally more an introvert than a born extravert, like Kalani. With that said, everyone I've known that has interacted with Bronco one on one, has really liked him. I would have assumed he would be good at remembering NRPIs(Succession reference: Not Real Person of Interest)Originally posted by Eddie View PostI think Bronco is a good dude who did good things for BYU while he was here.
