If this is true my biggest concern about The BYU team has been resolved. I think Kav playing this year puts BYU even or maybe even ahead of Utah in my preseason rankings.

My concern is still QB. I may be proven wrong, but our QB is either going to be a true freshman, or one that I believes is not going to get the offense to move. If Unga was still around, I would say they would be better off, but with him out, you have the potential to have a freshman starting backfield and while that bodes well for the future, I am not sure that is great for this year.

Now my biggest concern is the safety spot opposite Rich. I would like to see Brandon Bradley moved if nobody else steps up, and I think we have the depth and talent at CB to move him if we need to.

How often have we been able to say we have the depth and talent at CB to consider moving a CB to another position, it's nice to know we can do that.

For me QB is not as big of a concern. I think either can move the offense. I think the opposite about Harvey being gone and that it tips the balance a bit toward Nelson because he can run and pass. Please note that I did not say pass as well as Heaps. Nelson can pass well enough to move the offense and keep the defense on their toes.

Just playing a little bit of devil's advocate here but before we go appointing Mr. Kaveinga as the savior of the BYU defense let's see what he is able to do on the field first. Because we really haven't. Right now his career totals in tackles in two years of college football are 5. That is over 2 years. They probably came playing special teams. So what that tells me is that he hasn't seen hardly anytime at LB in game situations. From my understanding and some people who know more about Uona than I do is that he is a couple of steps slow. I think the guy has more talent than what BYU has currently but I would crown the guy as the savior of BYU's D just yet.

Kaveinga is a wishy-washy dude that can't figure out what school to play for and can't figure out whether to serve a mission or not.

That or he is a kid who picks the best option when presented. USC over BYU, not playing at USC go where he can play, sit out one year why not two, don't have to sit out why not play.

Would you call someone who took a 50K job over a $40 k job. Later the $40 K job guy came and offered $100. I guess you wouldn't move so no one could call you wishy washy.

I think much of the excitement stems from how well he performed in the spring. I did not attend but I heard a lot of moaning about how he was the best linebacker. I don't see him as the savior either but our linebacking corps could be really strong with the talent we have even though it is lacking a bit in experience.
