Because we really haven't. Right now his career totals in tackles in two years of college football are 5. That is over 2 years. They probably came playing special teams. So what that tells me is that he hasn't seen hardly anytime at LB in game situations. From my understanding and some people who know more about Uona than I do is that he is a couple of steps slow. I think the guy has more talent than what BYU has currently but I would crown the guy as the savior of BYU's D just yet.
In his defense he was backing up a future 1st round draft pick and 1st team all-american in Chris Gallipo. Kaveinga looked solid in the spring and I am not sure if he will be the savior but he is a definite upgrade over the current penciled in starter Shane Hunter. I like the depth with Ogletree, Kaveinga and Stout in the middle with Van Noy, Pendleton, Atkinson and Frazier on the outside.

It's a good thing too because last time I stole a Trojan I got all cocky and it cost me a nine month penalty.

I have been listening to the Red and Blue show and the BYU host said there is no news on Kav othe than he is at home deciding whether or not to go on a mission.

Geez a certain pair of brothers are certainly harshing my mellow on this Kav thing.

He was backing up Gallipo who is a NFL 1st rounder but if he was good enough to play I think he would have played more. There are 3 LB positions and I think if he was that good he would have been moved around and saw some more time than he did. He is an upgrade to what BYU has and I won't argue that at all. I treat transfers like I treat JC guys. There are always reasons they are leaving their current school and most of those reasons aren't because of a sudden change of heart.

so can I go out on a limb here and assert my opinion that it is CB's fault that we won't see Havili in blue this year?

What kind of narcotic cocktail did you have to whip together to reach that conclusion?

CB has nothing to do with Havili not being in Blue this year. Havili never even considered leaving SC after the penalty was handed down.

ha ha. I just know that he put out some resentful words toward BYU people for the outcry following his little hat stunt. I don't know if he got accosted at the mall or just logged onto CB and got offended. I thought the latter sounded more likely.

How often have we been able to say we have the depth and talent at CB to consider moving a CB to another position, it's nice to know we can do that.
Maybe since the Rodney's in the early 80's? and Brain Mitchell was a soph?

I may be small, but I'm slow.

oh- plus we just got 2 "preferred walk-ons" from Houston -- twin brothers-- who are WR's but can play CB. I think we got a log jam on our hands.

I have no clue how good Mitch and Garrett Juergans are. Did they have any d-1 offers? Anyone know what their other options were?

If we knew it still might not tell us much since they made it clear to anyone recruiting them that they were a package deal. Could have affected the offers they got (including BYU).

My impression was they were marginal D-1 prospects whose size/speed combination didn't project well..

If Unga was still around, I would say they would be better off, but with him out, you have the potential to have a freshman starting backfield and while that bodes well for the future, I am not sure that is great for this year.
