The fact that despite being pretty beat up at the point, and stumbling early on during the INT return, he caught up to the guy and delivered a Tyson-like punch to the ball. It probably saved the game. Weird that a pass play for a negative 50+ yards could be such a positive.

I like this Allgeier quote from a few weeks ago “It's a religious school. I'm not LDS, but I actually felt the spirit and I thought it was the right choice for me to come here.” I felt the spirit (or at least a spirit) last night, too.
Seriously the biggest play of the game/season/era on many levels, not just stopping ASU from taking the lead. BYU didn’t get any points off the turnover, but they had a 9 play drive that took 3 and a half minutes off the clock. So it ate up time and wore down the defense, setting up that last drive where ASU’s defense was gassed.

    Allgeier is my hero!

That's an excellent gif. One other thing I loved was Allgeier's demeanor after the play was over. No chest-thumping, screaming or other reactions. He got up and walked to the bench as if nothing had happened. No big deal. But it was.

Yeah, it was like just another day at work for Tyler.

Exactly. I was thinking last night that the greatest BYU defensive play ever was just surpassed.

            • I’m trying to get the exact yardage, but there’s about five yards from where Allgier’s foot leaves the ground and when he touches down again.

It seemed to me that this moment was the result of Tyler's frustration and rage of what just happened and the struggles they were having in the 3rd quarter. He was pissed and reacted. Him walking away and not celebrating was probably an attempt at walking off his anger. But maybe I'm projecting my own issues onto him.
