  • ASU Leads The World In Venereal Disease. Lifelong Complications with STDs

I don’t think the cougs will beat ASU. Honestly I think you guys should be disappointed you let Utah back in the game and you were a couple plays away from losing. Utah is not a good football program. ASU is decent. You guys spent way too much energy celebrating a win over a bad football program.

A couple plays or a couple scores? Sounds like as good a gameday thread as any.

Yay! Let's keep this mojo going. Thanks, Moose.

I've always wanted to be able to use the term "useful idiot". If BYU wins again this week, that is how Moose and all his account iterations should be referred to going forward.

Looks like ASU is a 2-point favorite.

ESPN predictor has the game as a virtual tossup. First meeting of ranked opponents in Provo since BYU/Utah 2009? Is that correct? Hard to believe it has been that long. But looks like a lot of things are happening for the first time in 12 years.

Direct result of how infrequently BYU has been ranked, unfortunately. To say nothing of how infrequently a team good enough to be ranked comes to Provo.

ASU is currently #19 in the AP and #21 in the Coaches poll.

The Sun Devils lead the all-time series 20-7, bolstered by their long-time dominance in the old WAC. Arizona joined the Pac-10 in 1978. BYU has won the last two games in the series, in Tempe in 1997 (13-10) and then in Provo in 1998 (26-6). BYU's current two-game streak is as long as any they've had in the series.

ASU won the previous two games in the series (1994, 1995) on the arm and legs of Jake Plummer. ASU's longest streak in the series, 8 games, was from 1966 to 1973.

BYU has more national championships (1-0), Heisman winners (1-0), conference championships (23-17), bowl games (38-32) and weeks as the AP #1 ranked team (4-0) than ASU.

ASU has more wins (626-596), All-Americans (18-14), NFL draft picks (250-148), NFL 1st round picks (26-12), weeks in the AP poll (289-260), and a better all-time record (60.7% vs 57.9%) and bowl record (48.4% vs 43.4%) than BYU.

I watched the UNLV game. Their QB is gonna give us fits with his feet. Their power run game is also solid. If we control the game clock and keep their QB corralled, I like our chances.

Ah yes, the 1998 game. A friend of mine was on the ASU team as a student manager, or something. He wore a headset. We hung out on campus the night before the game and he swore that his headset would fly through the air if they lost. It was like a $500 headset. He made good on his promise.

He's gone now (complications from diabetes at 40, eat right folks) but I think I'll put a little broken headset on the table during the game, in his honor.

I was at both the 94 game and the 98 game as a student.

The game in 94 was a huge disappointment. We beat Notre Dame the week before for the first time and President Hinkley warned the team not to ease up after the big win in his devotional that Tuesday. They went out and were dominated. ASU was scoring at will. It was hard to watch.

The 98 game was so fun! It was the complete opposite of the 95 game, except the domination was at the hands of our defense. Ronney Jenkins was great too.

                        Here's hoping for a repeat of 98.

I was in the MTC during the 98 game. A couple other district members and I sat out behind our building and listened to the roars and the PA announcer’s subsequent description of each play. One guy in our district was from Eager, AZ. He was an ASU fan and he did not enjoy our glee. I think we stayed out 30 mins past bedtime before our DL finally guilted us into going inside.

I was at the 97 game in Tempe. ASU was coming off their best season ever. It was actually a dud of a game. 13-11 or something like that, but the Cougs won.

Is that true about ASU leading the WORLD in venereal disease? I'm pretty sure they lead the world in the number of coeds wandering around in Daisy Dukes and bikini tops, but no need to sound jealous!

This game looks similar to the Utah game. We win by 2 scores.
