Mizzou will hold 6:45 pm press conference: Chancellor & Big 12 Conference Board Chair Brady Deaton to Give Update Concerning Big 12/Mizzou

This will be an interesting press conference. I don't think they go anywhere, but you never know. I think Missouri could be easily replaced if needed.

I don't think Mizzou could be so easily replaced in the Big 12. The Tigers have been playing decent football lately and usually have had a strong basketball program. In my view, I don't think any of the remaining Big 12 schools can be easily replaced.

If it were so easy, the Big 12 would still have 12 teams in it.

The only way this conference survives more than another year is if UT at least attempts to let the other eight schools participate. A good start would be hiring a commissioner who would look out for everyone. If Dodds really wants to make a concession, he'll recuse himself from the process of hiring the next commissioner.

And Dodds thinks a 10-team conference is the best model, but adding three schools might give the Big 12 a little more stability. I'm sick of all the talk about trying to add new TV markets. Yes, TCU's not going to bring new TV sets to the table, but it would give the conference more credibility because of its powerhouse football program.

As always, the ball's in UT's court. It would be nice to see the Horns share it with others, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
