If Texas sticks and the Big12 survives, then I'd think it would make sense to have TCU return to the SW and join UNM and UTEP along with BYU and UNLV. Geographically, that makes the most sense.

Seems ridiculous to have TCU in the Big East and Louisville and Pitt in the Big12. Yes, I understand this has nothing to do with geography. But still.

Geographically speaking, yes, Pitt and Louisville make no sense. But from an athletics standpoint, I think Pitt and Louisville are teams that would fit in well with the rest of the Big 12. UNLV is an enigma to me. I have to wonder if they would turn into a legitimate program if they had the athletics budget to build real facilities. Vegas should be a college kids dream to play ball there if their facilities didn't suck. Does BCS Conference money start to change some of that?

UTEP and UNM not so much. UNM's basketball program has been solid and Albuquerque is a growing market, so IMO they're more appealing than El Paso. But I don't think either of those teams are on any BCS conference radar.

There is nothing about this that smells right. What does OU have to gain with this? Do you really think Stanford and Cal are super-psyched about OU and OSU? "A well-placed source in a Big 12 school"? Note that that Big 12 school is neither OU or UT, but sure--I'll jump on board!

I would love to have TCU in the Big 12 (obviously a Big 12 that includes BYU). The other teams wouldn't go for it but I really think a good rivalry has been struck up between these teams.

Will it go to 16 or just 14?

If they stay at 14, do they split up OSU and OU putting one into the north and one into the South?

here is a question. why do people seem to think the there is this big boner for the PAC8 to come back? virtually no one associated with decision making even remember the old pac8. It was like 35 years ago. Not to mention it was only the pac-8 for 14 years before that.

I could have noted what happened last time the two schools played one another. It was in the post season, yes, in basketball. I didn't mention it because I'm too much of a gentleman.

I think the following would be almost locks for invites:

Pitt
Louisville
BYU

It is impossible to remain objective and deny admission to those three teams. I would move TCU from the following list to this list.

After that, the following schools may make some sense:

Air Force

AFA could and probably should go independent. They already have a solid template with Navy and Army. They have significantly different goals than all other D-1 football schools.

Agree. Texas is a better fit for the PAC, but I doubt they would ever agree to a pay cut for equal profit sharing. They are like the Yankees that way.
