But according to LA Ute (or was it SU?) Utah will be a member of the AAU any day now.Originally posted by Babs View PostOklahoma is ranked ahead of Utah academically, and has considerably more to offer athletically, so I don't see why not."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Babs, what do you think of all this? As a lifelong Sooner who grew up in the SWC days, it's got to be pretty weird to think of your school completely uprooting and moving to the coast.Originally posted by Babs View Post

This all sounds like it is all dependent on what Texas does. It seems the Pac-12 will take the Okies only if Texas comes along as part of the package. Texas, on the other hand (if the stuff PBC is saying is true), is more interested in the B1G with its buddy ND rather than playing in three different time zones in the Pac."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

The Pac-12 Commish said if any of the other conferences expanded past 12, they would find a way to follow suit. I imagine that he had already made this clear to Oklahoma, and that Oklahoma knew the A&M move was becoming official today, and that's why Oklahoma made the application announcement.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostThis all sounds like it is all dependent on what Texas does. SWC? Oklahoma was in the Big 8, which makes it that much weirder that they'd head to the Pac. I think it's all very silly and I'm pretty skeptical.Originally posted by YOhio View PostBabs, what do you think of all this? Ding ding ding. Which is why this announcement by the board of regents doesn't move me at all.Originally posted by Babs View PostThe Pac-12 Commish said if any of the other conferences expanded past 12, they would find a way to follow suit. Texas Tries to Persuade Sooners to Stay
Oklahoma’s president, David Boren, has made it clear that Oklahoma would explore joining the Pac-12 with Oklahoma State. But there is growing sentiment in Pac-12 circles that it would be difficult to accept the Oklahoma universities, and accepting them without Texas would be a long shot.
Academically, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State lag far behind top Pac-12 universities like Stanford, California, U.C.L.A., U.S.C. and Washington. Last year, when the Pac-12 presidents were discussing expansion, they took a sour attitude toward Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, which were viewed as a necessary evil for Texas’ potential admission.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

You know, if the stakes weren't so high for BYU, I would be enjoying this immensely. Talk about high drama."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Thamel was just on VS discussing his article. Reiterated most of the same but called OU and OKSU the anti-Ivy League. Why would OU want to join the Pac anyway? Maybe they forgot what happened back in 2006 when they played Oregon...Originally posted by YOhio View PostDon't worry, Babs. Those schools don't like us either.

I feel the same way to an extent, but I think YO said it best earlier:Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostYou know, if the stakes weren't so high for BYU, I would be enjoying this immensely. Talk about high drama.
I'd much rather that BYU be in a BCS conference. Who wouldn't? Obviously our options are limited and the Big-12 offers the best possibility. Too bad it's populated by a bunch of crazies (except for Kansas, of course; oh, and BatGirl as well).Originally posted by YOhio View PostAfter all the B12 drama of the past 18 months this really doesn't bother me that much. Sure it would suck if BYU were left out, but in that's the position they've been in my whole life and I've still managed to become obsessed with the program. I also think the era of superconferences will be short lived. Most fans hate the idea, it doesn't make sense logistically and the interconference feuding will continue. BYU will be fine.
In the end I think BYU will still be okay.
I just don't see how OK and OKSU Fans would want their teams to play most road games 1 to 2 time zones away. The Big-12 allows ready access to all venues. Makes no sense to me.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
