Because sometimes BYU is the only standard work some people read. In fact it has been the only one I have read for quite some time!

I'm optimistic. I can't imagine why you'd alert the media that you're making a statement if that statement is "We're staying independent!" You'd just issue the statement, or do nothing, since they've been saying they love independence for months now.

Naw, they could very easily say something like:

"We love our baptist brethren in the B12 and given the shifting sands of the college football landscape we have various explored options with them previously and today but, at this time, BYU is and remains independent in Football and while we do not foreclose any possibilities going forward, at this time we are not planning any change and are not negotiating with the B12. So please go home and write articles about the ole miss game and why everyone should convert. Thank you."

I don't think I've seen it debunked anywhere. That would be a serious coincidence to have a plane arrive from near BIG 12 headquarters in Provo. I doubt that they would fly out to Provo just to hear BYU tell them no thanks. I'm pretty sure they could have done that over the phone.

So now Jay Drew says that originally (this morning) a BYU spokesperson said that BYU "may" issue a statement today. Now they say that they WILL issue a statement. Long story short, someone flew from Big 12 headquarters from Provo today, and the statement is a result of their meeting.

If BYU weren't planning on joining the Big 12, there would be no point in making any statement. BYU would simply remain silent. Now BYU has pushed back BYU football media availability by 45 minutes this afternoon.

5:45! that is an hour and a half away!!!!

I'm confused. There is really an announcement today? And it is at 5:45? What is the normal time for "football media availability?"
