It looks official... this thread has become CB. Thankfully, here it is focused to just one particular thread instead of overflowing the whole board.
Normally intelligent, reasoned people have lost their minds due to emotion.
Regardless of the outcome, this thread will be an interesting read in the future.
I think Uncle Ted has actually mentioned Notre Dame joining the Big 12 on this thread 100 times. (Ted that aint gonna happen)
I grew up in Colorado and read the buffs message board fairly often, and have for years. I've also spent some time reading Nebraska's boards... I have some idea about Texas's arrogance, and the way other universities feel about sharing a conference with them. (It isn't good boys)
Now aTm bolts... all taken together... this might be considered a clue about the Big 12.
Does the majority here really feel they need an invite from the Big 12 to be relevant... the insecurity here looks glaring.
Come-on people relax a little... besides Texas, who else in the Big 12 could even make a legitimate attempt at independence?
You guys are already there. You've got deals in place with the WAC, and the WCC, you've scheduled games with the SEC and the Big 12 and Notre Dame... and you haven't even played the first game as an independent yet.
Texas won't be heading to the PAC under almost any scenario I can think of... They would never submit to being an equal share partner of anybody. Hell even the CB-BYU fans would have a difficult time rising up to match the arrogance of UT.
Seriously... this meltdown looks epic. It rivals last year in desperation.
BYU fans should chill... from the outside it looks like they are in the drivers seat.

And if the statement isn't definitive, then BYU is definitely joining the Big 12.That which may be asserted without evidence may be dismissed without evidence. -C. Hitchens

Dr. Brady Deaton, who is our Chancellor at Mizzou, is the current Chair of the Board of Directors of the Big 12. I know that Dr. Deaton, myself and all of us at Mizzou are committed to working hard to keep the Big 12 a strong and successful conference. We look to Commissioner Beebe and the Big 12 staff to develop and implement the plans necessary for the future."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

So now Jay Drew says that originally (this morning) a BYU spokesperson said that BYU "may" issue a statement today. Now they say that they WILL issue a statement. Long story short, someone flew from Big 12 headquarters from Provo today, and the statement is a result of their meeting.
If BYU weren't planning on joining the Big 12, there would be no point in making any statement. BYU would simply remain silent. Now BYU has pushed back BYU football media availability by 45 minutes this afternoon. That which may be asserted without evidence may be dismissed without evidence. -C. Hitchens

I'm optimistic. I can't imagine why you'd alert the media that you're making a statement if that statement is "We're staying independent!" You'd just issue the statement, or do nothing, since they've been saying they love independence for months now.Originally posted by SoonerCoug View PostSo now Jay Drew says that originally (this morning) a BYU spokesperson said that BYU "may" issue a statement today.
