If it's on the LHN, it's only on the LHN.

I can't believe that you seriously think BYU would turn down a BCS invite just out of pride, and not because it's what they think is best.
This is what I find disturbing:

"The president was asked what's going on with the football team, I was told he responded as follows:

"Someday people are going to learn that when we say something, we mean it. We are not joining the Big 12."

That makes sounds as if BYU is not joining the Big 12 to simply save face.

However, Pres. Samuelson publicly stated he didn't want BYU to get involved in financial arms race, so I can see him have saying this at a lunch.

      It bothers me.

It seems that BYU has the rights to replay any of their games on ESPN on BYUtv. So I am guessing you will be able to watch the replay. Maybe not if the LHN is viewed as non-ESPN.

Did I mention I have a couple of tickets to BYU-Texas?

Keep in mind, A&M is leaving as of next year - that's a really quick trigger. And I doubt the Big 12 is going to go through 2012 with 9 teams. Otherwise, they wouldn't have caved so easily on A&M leaving before next football season.

There are only two reasonable targets for the Big 12 who could feasibly play football in the Big 12 in 2012 without running into a lot of problems with current conference affiliation: BYU and Notre Dame.

I don't think BYU or the Big 12 are run by idiots. I think BYU's in, and if Notre Dame looks favorably on Big 12 affiliation, they'll be in at the same time Pitt can join. I suppose Notre Dame could join this year, and BYU come in with Pitt, but I think the other scenario is more likely.
It wouldn't matter whether the 10th team joins in 2012 or 2013. If the conference can show their membership will be ten, the networks won't care if that was delayed a year.

If the conference was only 9 members for the 2012 season, all the teams could add another home game against Texas St. or directional Louisiana. One more win and another home game payout for everyone.

BYU folks have said they are trying to figure out how to "monetize" it. That's where some of the difficulty comes. However, non-profits can sell things, they just have to donate or use their profits for a legitimate charitable purpose, I think. Like a church or a college athletic program. Of course, its more complex that that.

Ok, so as everyone knows, yesterday I saw a mysterious BYU pop-up tent go up a few mere blocks from the COB.

Today, the pop up tent is still up. A pic of it here as of 15 mins ago:

However, check out what I saw parked in the parking structure, only 15 feet away from the pop up tent!!!!!!

This is it! It is happening!
It looks to me like that van is parked on the west side of the parking garage, down at least several spaces from the southwest corner. If that's the case, there's no way it's within 15 feet of the tent.

Now, I can understand your excitement IF the van fell inside the 15 foot perimeter. However, it does not.

It might serve you well to stop spreading such rumor and misinformation.

The parking structure is 15 feet from the tent, not the van. Who parks their car within 15 feet of a pop-up tent?

Post is too funny. Considering thats the parking lot of LDSBC and KSL Radio and TV, I'm figuring this was all just supposed to be funny. I'm sure a press-conference under a pop-up tent in the backlot of KSL would make for an interesting BIG-12 announcement though... who wouldn't take us seriously after that?

My guess? The marketing staff at KSL is testing a product they will use, or eventually start giving away once the season starts.

Heard from almost as far up as you can go.

Take as you will, seems certain religious schools want to join the conference and now A&M thinks staying is best.

They already have their PR department denying they sent a letter they sent. They're starting to back track.

Of course if those schools don't move quickly I see A&M bolting

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

I'm not sure the parking structure is within the 15 foot perimeter either.

As I look at the first photo, it's clear that there is a nominally mature, deciduous tree directly between the pop-up tent and the parking structure. I am guessing it is most likely an Ash Tree - perhaps an Emerald Ash.

The fully grown Emerald Ash averages 60 feet in width. As this particular Emerald Ash is clearly only nominally mature, I will say it is 23' wide. However, it hangs over the pop-up tent only five or six feet, meaning that the rear of the pop-up tent is, at a minimum, 17 feet from the parking structure. And don't get me started on the front of the pop-up tent.

Your post is clearly contributing to the misinformation and rumor that is so thoroughly wrecking productivity along the Wasatch Front today, and frankly, I expect more out of you.

The more we hear about Pitt the better because the only way Pitt comes is with Notre Dame and that means a 12-team league with BYU.
