LOL. At least when Utah wasn't the PAC's first choice they were in line behind Texas, OU and Oklahoma State. Sorry, BYU. You are no Louisville.Originally posted by Maximus View Postif fsu, clemson, UL, all say no

Of course, that was all just rumor and conjecture. At this point we know for sure that BYU is no TCU or West Virginia.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostYeah...you forgot Texas A&M and Texas Tech. Sorry, Utah. I had it confirmed to me today what I have expected all along and maybe some of you will give the duh, response.
The decision on getting into the BIG12 when we had our chance went above the pay grade of Samuelson and Holmoe. Any angst against those two for not making the move is misdirected.
Those who run BYU have a "not for profit" mentality when it comes to management. That does not bode well for those who want a competitive, elite, football team.
Since I sustain the GA's, I think the BOD has the right to run BYU as they choose. While supporting that right, it doesn't mean I have to be a fan of it.

If their true goal is exposure for the church, that is better accomplished in a relevant, visible conference. Especially in a conference encompassing schools in the midwest, where there are less LDS people overall.
That's a huge mistake on their part.
They are just lucky we had a bad conference and an innovative coach all those years, which led to us making a name for ourselves in the first place.
That is so disappointing in so many ways, because imo, we really did have a chance to go there last year. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

I blame RamBam and his carefully scripted attack against growing corporatist influences in the Mormon Church!Originally posted by byu71 View PostI had it confirmed to me today what I have expected all along and maybe some of you will give the duh, response.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

I couldn't get past the first paragragh. Well, I guess I could have, but I hate 1/2 of reading speculation.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostYou obviously didn't read the Shoganai article. We chose not to joing the Big 12!
I do believe if he thinks we chose not to join he is probably right. I don't agree with those who think it was a smart decision.

They really just should have taken the invite and gone with it.
I don't really care if fans nationwide can see the games. The "national fanbase" thing is overstated anyways.
You don't pass on an association with those teams because the TV deal wasn't quite to your liking. It's not like you're dealing with Wyoming and New Mexico here. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

Yea, I don't really get this either. If it isn't a quality match up, people who are non-LDS aren't going to flock to BYUtv to watch BYU play. So the exposure thing is for already exposed members.
Gee, you cater to the folks who sit on their butt and watch the game on TV. The same folks who if the choice comes up between Stake PH meeting and a game, they go to the PH meeting.
I think the powers that be think in terms of the fan base being like the members of the church. They will come, they will participate, they will fork over the dough because they know we speak for the Lord.
Yes, I buy that when it comes to the "church". I don't when it comes to BYU sports.
