I disagree. BYU is not Notre Dame. BYU does not play every home game on NBC. BYU does not have special inclusion to the BCS. BYU is not even considered a BCS team...Notre Dame is. BYU cannot put together a strong schedule every year. Notre Dame can. Let's just use this Saturday as an example: Notre Dame plays Air Force on NBC at 3:30pm eastern time. BYU plays SJSU on ESPNU at 10:15pm eastern time. Which team has more exposure?

As long as Notre Dame is an independent BYU will be relatively safe from falling off the face of the earth as far as football is concerned. However, it's a very precarious position because the day Notre Dame decides to join a conference BYU is left in the dark.

Unless an NDA was signed, which is totally possible, BYU needs to let their fans know the exact reason they decided to stay independent. Maybe they never received an invite, maybe it's because they fell in love with the WCC. Either way a statement needs to be made regarding the reason for the direction they have chosen.
If their fans can demand things I want $20/hr regardless if I work or not?

There's a difference between losing games and forfeiting them.
BYU can't maintain fan interest if the program is being run by people who don't care about football, achievement, or fans.

Rejecting the Big 12, or holding out for absurd concessions (which may or may not have happened) would show that the program is being run by people who don't care about football, football achievement, or fans.
I think, perhaps, the only person who hates BYU fans more than ute fans hate BYU fans, is Bronco Mendenhall.

          This?

There is much speculation right now regarding conference affiliation that seems to change by the hour. Commenting on such conjecture is not productive and creates a distraction for our program. As we enter the 2011-12 athletic season, BYU is focused on the opportunities ahead. We are excited about our relationship with ESPN as a football independent and our affiliation with the West Coast Conference. The university will have no further comment.

If enough tax payers line up at the poles demanding $20/hr it will happen.

If enough fans stop showing up to the games... it will already be too late.

If BYU does not go, I doubt we will ever know the inside story. All parties will state how this is what the wanted all along.

Understanding a joke FAIL. Again, I have proven my inability to think rationally today. I'm just a little shaken up over all of this.

If BYU doesn't go to the Big 12 and they never say anything else, this will be my last season as a fan. I can understand if they felt under the circumstances, whatever they may be, they couldn't make the move. I just want to hear something, anything. If they leave us hanging, that's worse than anything else they could do.
I'm with you, minus the first sentence. We have been kept in the dark for far too long, and it's time for BYU to fess up, and they better give a real explanation if they want to keep at least a portion of their alumni donors. I realize we are taught to have faith, but this "trust us" stuff just will not fly.
