If they keep the AQ status, the Big East lacks a clear top dog for football. Maybe West Virginia? Although I don't believe Louisville wants to stay, I can see the strategy. Again, assuming the Big East remains a BCS conference.

For what it is worth, my wife's uncle has made multimillion dollar donations to the athletic department and I know he has no idea what the Big XII, PAC XII, MWC, or independence is. He will continue to donate regardless of the conference affiliation. Personally, I think the administration would listen to this guy way before any other donors, but it doesn't matter, because he will donate every year anyway.
