It's a ridiculous argument.
If true, that means WVU and TCU's inclusion demands the conference prevent further reducing each school's share of the pot, which is no bueno for the Cougs.

Someone's playing dumb until they actually get around to getting denied the 10 team championship game and then eventually expanding, if you ask me.
I think this is exactly whats going on. They are seeing what they can get away with before having to react. It isn't surprising to me how many ADs in the conference have emphasized that they don't want to expand and lose revenue. Its all about the money and they seem less concerned about getting left out of the playoffs.

The Big 12 doesn't want to take the risk of playing a CCG. But that's not fair to other conferences who play a CCG. And it's not fair to other conferences who have expanded in order to play a CCG.

As far as the argument that expansion dilutes payouts to the rest of the conference, I have only crocodile tears. Since all this conference realignment began, the only programs who may have added revenue, rather than dilute it, to the conference they joined are Nebraska and Texas A&M. Perhaps the Big 12 should have done more to keep them.

        2008 -2009 figures http://blogs.mercurynews.com/college...ution-figures/
        USC: $11,479,242
        Oregon: $9,277,342
        OSU: $9,922,072
        Cal: $8,851,138
        Washington: $8,447,330
        UCLA: $8,783,712
        Arizona: $8,181,329
        ASU: $7,910,038
        Stanford: $7,216,848
        WSU: $6,676,774

(Note: The 2009-10 figures won’t be available until next spring.)

The Pac-12 reported $334 million in total revenue for a fiscal year ending June 30, 2013, the first that reflects the conference's 12-year, $3 billion TV rights deals with ESPN and Fox; the debut of the wholly conference-owned Pac-12 Networks; and operations of the conference's nascent marketing and media arm, Pac-12 Enterprises.

That total represents a $158.1 million increase in revenue over what the conference reported for the 2011-12 fiscal year and a more than tripling of the $111.8 million that the Pac-12 reported for 2010-11.
I know everyone here thinks Utah diluted therevenue but the stats don't lie.

I think what he is saying is that the $158mm increase is attributable to adding utah and Colorado. Ergo, utah and Colorado added approximately $79mm each. I'm guessing utah added a little more than that because of the sugar bowl win in 2008.

I feel like BYU is the smart, frugal, talented one but can't get the best job because he is not related or connected with the ones that make the choices.

Here is my WAG regarding BYU and B12 expansion.

Odds that the B12 will expand to 12 teams: 40%

Odds that the B12 will pick BYU if they do expand: 50%

Odds that BYU would accept an offer: 100%

                              Overall odds of BYU going to the B12: 0.4 * 0.5 * 1.0 = 20%
