If they say that, they are using it incorrectly. There is no proof in the pudding. Why would you look there for proof? The expression is the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

I've lived most of my life in Big 12 country and am a short drive from Big 12 HQ, which incidently, is far away from Palo Alto, CA. The Big 12 already has Baylor and TCU - this may be news to you, but in the bible belt being religious is not frowned upon. I think the incompetence of Big 12 leadership is a greater factor than any reluctance to add BYU. Besides, the Big 12 is run by Texas and OU and both schools have played BYU recently.

Or maybe Baylor and TCU have a bigger voice than I think (they don't) and hate BYU just as much as Stanford, but for different reasons. Sometimes it's hard to gauge who hates Mormons more: the Baptists in Waco or the atheists on the Farm in Palo Alto.

So you submit that the Big 12 is the pudding and BYU's ostracization by the Big 12 is the proof? I think the meaning of proof in the pudding has evolved to cover my usage.
