Besides the AQ stuff Neinas said some things about realignment problems the Big 12 is facing...
Link: http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/e...70202/33203093"Neinas also said he senses “strong sentiment” for conferences to remain with current membership until 2013. That would mean Syracuse and Pittsburgh would remain in the ACC, Missouri and Texas A&M would remain in the Big 12 and West Virginia and TCU would remain in the Big East.
The Big 12 is in a state flux with its television partners (ESPN, Fox) because it needs at least 10 members in 2012 for its payout not to be affected, Neinas said.
“We have to provide inventory to our TV partners and also we have some bowl partners,” he said. “Of course the major problem is scheduling.”"

In the Big 12, it's a question of haves and have nots, petty politics, egos, and a lack of alliance and collaboration. In my view, it's just the SWC II. BYU71 is correct to point out that it just gets worse once university presidents and administration get involved - in general the athletic side could find working arrangements.
Compare the Big 12 with the Big Ten. There are egos in both conferences but a key difference is that the Big Ten has had a strong conference commissioner in Jim Delany. When there are disagreements in the Big Ten, a compromise or consensus is reached. When the vote is counted in the Big Ten, it's usually a token gesture to confirm the decision that has already been reached. In the Big 12, the vote is a victory for one Side because they have forced the issue and haven't had to compromise or reach a consensus. That results in winners and losers - haves and have nots. And when the losers or have nots have other options - they leave.
When the Big 12 didn't move immediately to add TCU and BYU to stay at 12 teams and UT inked their LHN deal with ESPN, that signaled trouble.
Here is a little history lesson on the LHN. Texas tried to get the Big 12 to start a network. The members (including Nebraska at the time) shot it down. When that didn't happen they approached aTm about partnering on a network. aTm let their pride get in the way, telling Texas no, and everyone else that they were going to be first in launching their own network, "The 12th man network". So Texas successfully launches the Longhorn Network and everyone gets upset about it. They have only themselves to blame."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Sorry, but Mizzou and aTm are gone.Someone is confused. Also, TCU "remaining" in the Big East is an odd concept.Neinas also said he senses “strong sentiment” for conferences to remain with current membership until 2013. That would mean Syracuse and Pittsburgh would remain in the ACC, Missouri and Texas A&M would remain in the Big 12 and West Virginia and TCU would remain in the Big East.
I wonder if it is Neinas that is confused or is it Dodds? My bet is Neinas.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

I'm familar with the history of the LHN. But what is left out or a different point of view is this: that no one was sure how successful a conference network would be back when the Big 12 was discussing it. Some in the Big 12 did not have the resources or could not take the risk of a conference network. But the BTN changed all that. With the success of the BTN, the risk of launching a Big 12 network was much less. And the members of the Big 12 realized the value of a conference network after first turning it down. So what does UT do? Instead of going back to the table and strengthening the Big 12, the Longhorns say "it's too late - go pound sand". They move forward with the LHN and ESPN deal. The angst about the LHN is that there will never be a Big 12 network without UT.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

So while "they only have themselves to blame"; the Longhorns will only have themselves to blame when the Big 12 continues to crumble. A Big 12 network with Longhorn participation could have saved the Big 12 with Texas A&M and Missouri still in it. Perhaps even added TCU and BYU (if the Cougars don't screw it up with BYUtv demands). Instead, the LHN causes Texas A&M and Missouri to leave. Time will tell whether UT is better off with their LHN in a crappy Big 12 or with a Big 12 conference network in a decent conference.“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”

Apparently. I'm as horrified as everyone else, but I don't think its off limits in terms of trying to make a joke. If anyone here is a victim of this kind of stuff and my ill-timed joke offended you, I apologize.Originally posted by Green Monstah View PostToo soon.Don't worry about people stealing your ideas.
