How does this contact have insight into the BOT? When was the meeting? It must have been today because they generally don't meet on Sundays...or weekends for that matter. And what were the reasons given?
I suspect the BOT part is his conjecture as I think there's no doubt that TH, et al., want in.

The 'everything else' is also incorrect. I was wrong about the press conference pre-UT.

The Dude also knows that while everyone was certain (Chip included) that UT was going to the PAC16, I PM'd him to say that UT was not going anywhere. Voila, two days later...
Hell, I'm not even stating what I most recently heard is 100% accurate...it has not always been and I suspect that it's possible that continues.

If I had to guess, independently, I'd still say that odds are better that we somehow make it in.

the problem with this info is that it is late. This Fox issue was already revealed....what.....a few days ago? Tweeting it today is old news.

I used to think any and all info was fun and interesting. However it has become tedious. Some people are offended when their sources are questioned. I am now of the opinion that heightened scrutiny is the order of the day on any more of these expansion rumors. If fewer people pass along mumbo jumbo from D-list insiders, then there is much less clutter and confusion. By definition, nobody has good sources since pretty much everyone has been wrong thus far. The only definite thing to happen....TCU....was a complete blindside to everyone on the board with alleged contacts.

In the era of twitter and internet, I think the vast majority of "inside" info is simply access to various message boards around the country.

          • My question is how do these people that are nobodies have contacts, but nobody in the media has this same info? If insiders were giving out some of this info so freely, wouldn't it be all over the place? Why are insiders only talking to 3-4 people?

I agree with this. Folks run around pulling string about why BYU's lips are tighter than Provo High's Prom Queens thighs on prom night, but look at the backlash, threats to forever quit the Cougar Club and other drama queen antics that follow every freaking tweet out there. Besides that other high rollers call Tom to give him a piece of their mind etc.

I think the Big 12 is going to have to go to 12 teams. I am convinced one of those 12 will include BYU.

My guess is that the local media people have access to many of the same rumors. But they value their jobs, as well. What would the future employment prospects look like for the local media guy that published half of the jibba jabba that we have read over the past month? They probably use more discretion because more is at stake.

In retrospect, I am amazed Chip brown made a career off of being wrong pretty much all of the time.

What is interesting is that Chip Brown was reporting that TCU was on the Big 12 radar in a big way while the BYU insiders claimed to be completely blindsided by this. Maybe Tom and the boys don't follow Chip Brown.

Was Brown wrong about TCU? Was Brown about aTm starting up talks with the SEC? It seemed that he broke these before anyone else starting talking about them. Check this thread.

I might have been out of the loop in the middle of last week but I recall Chip saying that Texas was never opposed to TCU in the Big-12 but I don't recall him ever getting real hot that TCU was an option. I just recall the real inside sources leaks such as I hear the Big-12 is talking to some teams and scouts on the screen line say they are: BYU, TCU, AFA, WVU, Louisiville, SMU, Boise State, Pitt and Notre Dame.

Ted is correct, CBrown was saying TCU had moved to the head of the list when everyone else was all over BYU and going "Huh?"

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Then perhaps some of the stringpullers might end up vindicated!

Look, I know you love humping Chip Brown's leg, but the fact is that nobody saw that one coming.

You can't give Chip credit for being a B12 insider as evidence by the TCU thing when he was also saying BYU was in, as well. he simply passes along what he sees on the same message boards we all read.

Right now, people are saying Navy to the Big East. If it happens, I guess it is good inside info, except for the fact that most message boarders can piece together those same scenarios, as well.

                            Here is the gauntlet.

If you have legit BYU inside info, please tell us all today when the B12 issue will be resolved. if the resolution is positive, please give us a date when it will be announced. If the resolution is negative, please let us know when it was decided and the reasons why.

For Chip Brown, if you are a B12 insider, please give us a final list of B12 teams.

If not, then you are not an "insider." you are a "message board enthusiast."

I don't remember Chip ever saying that BYU was in for sure. I thought he was saying they were at the top of the list when the A&M leaving to the SEC broke but I don't remember him ever coming out and saying BYU was in. After a couple of weeks he went on to say that BYU valued Independence more than the BIG 12 which may turn out to be correct.
