Tdawg, a few things.Originally posted by TDAWGCOUG View PostI was told that story Saturday about a different outing a bit ago. Today via that same source, I was told about the meetings tomorrow and Thursday. I guess we will see, but I am a bit surprised that these two meetings are taking place if there firm position is "no thank you."
First, there is a rumor of C-Sam and Tholmoe meeting up with the BOT. That meeting was allegedly today. Are you intimating that the meeting is actually tomorrow? Or is that a different meeting?
Second, downtown really called you out on the carpet in his CB post about inside information. what is your take on his rant? He does seem to have a point but is some of his post simply more alpha-male posturing? I'm trying to figure out who is legit and who is blowing smoke. Is downtown also an insider?
Third, do you know anything about the BYU pop-up tent on the grass across from the Gateway Mall today?Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I have told DT, and those in his circle, about my sources, and info. His problem with me is me taking my info public. Others will have to speak about me being legit, is my info perfect, no. Do I get and pass on info that materializes, yes.
No clue on the tent issue.

Worse. I can feel the inner sickness that I felt when I read that Brandon Davies was suspended. The feeling that the institution is hell bent on its own athletic destruction.Originally posted by creekster View PostDId you eat at the iguana too?
I should have known that being in the Big 12 was to good to be true.

I understand that. It was a simple analogy, and this situation is anything but simple. The negotiations would be complex, and the option of future availability to a Big 12 invite was probably considered from the beginning...
Even with all of that, the powers that control BYU must listen to those they put in charge of those offices, and I'm sure those people have spent the last year really selling this independence thing up the chain of command. In many cases to people that don't know all that much about football.
Remember that the people in charge care a lot about BYU and everything that encompasses. They may be football fans, but their interests involving BYU go beyond the football program. How important is being part of an automatic qualifier conference to them?
Was all the talk about independence really just a way to save face while waiting and positioning BYU for an opportunity with an AQ conference?
Possibly, there might be some thinking at the top that BYU really can get the exposure they are looking for on their own terms as they had originally planned. They will never have to match Texas's 135 million dollar athletic budget to do so, or be competitive... and they only have to place their trust in themselves, and their own people's abilities."We should remember that one man is much the same as another, and that he is best who is trained in the severest school."

Meanwhile, BYU could be emerging as a leading candidate to replace Texas A&M in the Big 12, according to three sources close to the situation.
Sources said BYU's close relationship with ESPN, which operates BYU's TV contract as an independent, could play a key role in the Cougars being added to the Big 12, whose Tier 1 TV rights are held by ABC/ESPN.
As an example of ESPN's relationship with BYU, two key sources told Orangebloods.com that if ESPN can not work out an agreement with either Kansas or Kansas State to appear as the second football game on the Longhorn Network this season, it will be BYU.
The Cougars play Texas in Week 2 of the football season - Sept. 10 in Austin - one week after LHN is to air UT's season opener against Rice at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday. Texas fans are getting nervous that there haven't been more announcements about cable providers who will carry the Longhorn Network and show the Texas-Rice game Saturday night. One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

All I know about this subject is that I am legit. So legit that Bronco himself called me tonight to ask my advice on the subject.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostTdawg, a few things.

We both came to the conclusion that BYU's talent is more on par with the SEC and that by joining the Big 12, BYU would really be settling. During the call we both agreed that it would be in BYU's best interest to hold out for an SEC invite. Because of what Kirk Herstriet told him, Bronco feels that BYU is in position to be the 14th team the SEC will need. He was also extremely excited about the large missionary opportunity this would be by playing in the Bible Belt. We talked about how the Friday night firesides will be so big that BYU will probably have to reserve the schools basketball arenas to accommodate those who will be in attendance. We then talked about the fact that BYU football is being played for a much bigger cause than any of us can really comprehend.
That is all I know at this point. He is going to call me again on Thursday and I will give him my final changes to the game plan for Saturday."Take it to the Bank"

Maybe they could simulcast on BYUtv to appease the Texas Fans. The thought that UT's first two football games of the season could both be on the Longhorn Network - with potentially very limited distribution - could be a huge turnoff to Texas fans. ESPN officials have been silent this week on any Longhorn Network developments.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
