I sincerely hope this Big XII thing will happen, because otherwise the tenuous truce that is this wonderfully therapeutic forum will fall apart under the sheer magnitude of the inner assholes that will suddenly come forth and overtake the keyboards from the forum members whom we Utes would otherwise consider to be a wonderful group of friends.

I've been pessimistic about a Big 12 invite. But the supposed Sameulson quote just doesn't make sense to me.

Awesome. I can't wait until he fulfills his destiny and completes his mission to destroy byu's athletic department. We have been prepping him for decades. The amazing thing is, we planned to have him lower the boom when he was the Church Pres, and he was able to rise above his position and strike from the university pres. position. The optimist in me just thinks that if BYU was really interested in staying independent and not entertaining the idea of the BIG-12 they would just come out and say it. But the pessimist in me (which usually wins) thinks that BYU is keeping their mouth shut so as to not make the BIG-12 look like they have been rejected by a mid-major.

This comes directly from someone who had lunch with President Samuelson this afternoon.

The president was asked what's going on with the football team, I was told he responded as follows:

"Someday people are going to learn that when we say something, we mean it. We are not joining the Big 12."

I was told that story Saturday about a different outing a bit ago. Today via that same source, I was told about the meetings tomorrow and Thursday. I guess we will see, but I am a bit surprised that these two meetings are taking place if there firm position is "no thank you."
