Not to mention you're playing different teams from the south every year.Originally posted by statman View PostBeing 'relegated' to the North would be AWESOME. BYU would be the favorite to win it in football every year - and facing the winner of the Red River Shootout every year in a prime-time exclusive Big XII Championship game.
And Big XII north basketball would make BYU BB tickets the hardest 'get' in town.
'Relegation' to the Big XII North? You COMPLETELY fail to understand what the benefits of the Big XII would actually be!

I don't think they split the conference into divisions for bball. Its just Big 12 bball.Originally posted by statman View PostBeing 'relegated' to the North would be AWESOME. I forgot my favorite part about conference expansion rumors is statman showing his skillz in TV knowledge. Seriously this board is blessed to have a guy that runs one of the biggest TV stations in Utah sharing all the inside info on how negotiations and deals get done in the media world.Get confident, stupid

I think the peddling around in a shitty ass schwinn is an Uchtdorf reference and the skydive naked from a aeroplane is a Motley Crue song (though I'm not sure what that has to do with anything). In any event, I agree, it's awesome.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postlol. I thought the same thing. Exactly. That's how the SEC does it anyway. They keep East & West, H/A within the division and alternating years in other division, 16 league games total. I assume any 12-team league would do it the same way. Otherwise you'd be playing a whole lot of conference games.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostScheduling is similar, however. You get your "North" teams home-and-away, play 3 home and 3 road vs. the "South" for a total of 16 conference games.
What format is PAC12 going to for BBall? I assume the same...

Dan Beebe says the Big 12 is poised to move aggressively with options:
http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_...e-aggressively"The letter received today from Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin will be addressed by the Big 12 Conference Board of Directors," he said. "It remains our strong desire for Texas A&M to continue as a member of the Big 12 and we are working toward that end. However, if it is decided otherwise, the Conference is poised to move aggressively with options."
The league's board of directors is set to meet on Saturday."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
"I honestly believe saying someone is a smart lawyer is damning with faint praise. The smartest people become engineers and scientists." -SU.
"Yet I still see wisdom in that which Uncle Ted posts." -creek.

I'm not sure how the one who follows Chip Brown missed this:
I am not sure what it means, but it is apparent that Chip is very well connected in Austin. It seems like Texas uses him to leak info at times. I wouldn't call him a puppet. He is pretty rough on our athletic dept.Originally posted by ChipBrown:Details are far off. Texas A&M isn't even out of the conference yet. But just know there is a very strong relationship between DeLoss Dodds and ND athletic director Jack Swarbrick. When DeLoss Dodds said a couple weeks ago that if there was not sentiment to hold the Big 12 together (the Longhorns hope there is sentiment to hold the Big 12 together), then Texas and a school like Notre Dame should consider starting their own conference - there was a hint of truth in there. That is a strong relationship that became fortified last summer and could take on many new dimensions in the future. This post was edited on 8/25 5:45 PM by ChipBrown
I will not say ND is a shoe-in, but there have been a lot of talks going on between DeLoss and Swarbrick for some time.
I do know BYU comes up every time names are mentioned. And I know OU isn't sitting here quietly if they thought the BIG 12 was about to go under.
I expect that as soon as Baylor gets done plundering Texas A&M for ever dime it can, things will start to heat up. Most indications show that it will come down to BYU saying yes or no.
As for Houston/TCU/SMU/Rice, they don't bring anything to the conference so nobody sees that happening. BYU on the other hand brings in a whole new market and strength of schedule (TCU could be argued here but they already have a contract in the BIG EAST and they don't bring in any TV's)

In the old Norte, a general....

feeling of exhaustion w/ aTm's little soap opera. We've returned to arguing about whether we'll win 4 or maybe 5 games rather than two or three. The old Norte has hitched its wagons behind UT/OU, and we'll go wherever they want to go. That is why KSUck is negotiating w/ the LHN to be the 2nd game available. If the LHN succeeds, it keeps the Horns outta the Big 10/Pac 16 and tied to the Big 12 for scheduling. If BYU joins the Big 12, they're in the same boat. I'd expect BYU to be making a decisions fairly quickly on whether or not to join the current Big 12 ten team configuration.
If ya'll come on over, we're all gonna have to pray the LHN succeeds. It's the glue that will keep Darth Dodds on board. Are ya'll sure you want to join the Dark Side?

Texas teams are out.
I cannot imagine what's left of the Norte block agreeing to anymore Texas soap operas. It is probably the one demand that they'll make in this game. If the Big 12 expands, it will not be Houston or Rice or SMU.Originally posted by Gaffords View PostAs for Houston/TCU/SMU/Rice, they don't bring anything to the conference so nobody sees that happening. No problem. Most folks in the current Big 12 footprint are convinced we are residents of the Dark Side already. Perfect fit.Originally posted by Red Legger View Posthttp://www2.kusports.com/weblogs/tal...12-of-its-int/

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
