Geographical oddity, even. Two weeks from everywhere.

Colorado executive board meeting tomorrow (typo, it is tomorrow, not weds). They have to announce the agenda 24 hours in advance. Note the agenda item. Hmmm....

Admittedly, I don't grasp the whole conference realignment stuff. But I just don't grasp why the Big 12 would want Colorado. I don't think the Buffaloes have a bright future. I think Utah would be a much better pick up, but perhaps Utah isn't a willing defector quite yet. I know folks are moister than a horny Provo 87th ward laurel on Prom night over how this will all affect Utah-but what does Colorado bring that the Big 12 wants?
Seems to me the most prevailing benefit is another nail in the coffin of the Pac, but that trend is inevitable. Other than Utah no wester state of any consequence collectively and culturally values good football. This already happened in the NE United States a couple of generations ago. The death of the Pac is inevitable so I don't grasp why the Big 12 wants to help facilitate that by bringing in what I think is future dead weight.
I don't think any of Colorado's fundamentals portend well for a strong college football program.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Denver metro area is the 16th-largest media market in the US (actual ranking varies based on how you measure, but top 20 for sure). Much larger than SLC.
Utah has a good football team but the B12 already has the Utah market via BYU. Would adding Utah bring media value?
Colorado has actually won a national championship in FB. Also a good geographic fit with the B12.
I hope the B12 adds Colorado and Arizona and then sits back to see what happens with the ACC.

Colorado doesn’t add a ton of value with big time athletics, but poaching them does destabilize the PAC 12. UO and UW are gone as soon as B12 comes knocking. If B12 can poach CU and one other, P12 is done as a power athletic conference.

I guess there is some value there. I will let those who really know this stuff work it out, but I worry this is as much about destabilizing the Pac as it is adding value.

Yormak has had the midas touch so far. I trust him.

Oh ... and by the way ... the P12 went on hospice the second USC/UCLA left. If they were able to get a halfway decent media deal we would not be having this conversation.

I'm assuming you mean the Big10, because if Oregon and Washington were willing, the invites would've gone out long ago.
My initial thoughts on CU was that it was a waste as well - thinking that Colorado has had very little fan support and must be more of a professional town, with folks supporting the Rockies and Broncos.
And then CU sold out their spring game. 47K people in the seats.
I get that this phenomenon was driven by the spectacle that is Coach Prime and doesn't necessarily mean much as a stand-alone event. But it gives me hope that if CU can get back to what they were when they were competing for Big 12 championships, there actually IS some fan interest that could awaken.
CU is an established P5 program. As the B12 works to continue to solidify its standing in a post-UT/OU existence, if a P5 program views the B12 as attractive enough to leave another P5 conference to join, it will increase the status of the B12 relative to the P12 and even ACC. Over the last decade, P5 schools don’t leave their conference unless they are joining the Big Ten or SEC. If the B12 makes that list, it improves the perception/brand.
Also, CU has been conference mates with half of the B12 for 60 of the last 70 years. Schools like OSU/KU/KSU/ISU are going to be much more comfortable signing off on a CU addition than on something like a UCONN.
Cazano is saying that there has been an agreement on the GOR. So I think some signs are pointing to the PAC sticking together. Well see. Friday could be a big day either way.
