Yeah, instead we'll get a lot of people praising the administration for sticking to principles. Few will question whether the priniciples as currently constituted in the HC are worth standing for. The HC is anachronistic at best and for that reason alone should be updated.

      • Guys, the B12 is bringing out the worst in us. BYU always had an interesting niche of being the favorite in a small conf but a huge underdog nationally. I don't know if return to a conf is a good idea or not, but I do think Kalani and Ty are returning BYU to their roots of success, which is 7-9 winnable games a year and 2-3 national challenges. Yeah the CFP is never available with this, but many great years with memorable moments and players are. We all didn't fall in love with BYU because they were challenging for a major bowl or league chase. Leave these wannabe SEC fools in the rear view.

Miami in 1990 wasn't such a great moment because we were in a P5 conference.

            • It is what it is. I have always felt the honor code was a hinderance to the athletic program. Those in charge don't and they are the ones that count.

It is convenient or maybe even correct (seperate wheat from chaff) to believe people respect BYU for the HC. There are some that do, but many more who either don't care or think it represents a society that longs for the 50's.

This is the way it is going to be. Those in charge do not consider athletics a priority.

Unlike SU, I have no anger toward the leaders of the church. The good they teach and promote far outweighs the bad.

As far as the LGBT thing, I consider the activists biggots. Whether they had anything to do with us getting in or not, they will probably think so and I can see them being active in discrediting BYU. If you asked I will bet they will say there are thousands of colleges better than BYU, but they are concerned about how they would be treated somewhere they wouldn't even show up at.

It is like me protesting I can't hang out with SU.

I was going to say that I felt better this morning because some weirdos in a soon to be irrelevant conference learned about who we are, and that we are noble...but then I read this post. Bless you HFN!!!

                • I like Independence, but would obviously prefer the Big12. However, we aren't winning a championship with or without the Big12. We just aren't. Neither is Utah (or some other middling P5 team). The money isn't there and the history/fan base isn't there. Lightning may strike one year and BYU or Utah gets into the CFP (clearly Utah has an easier path being P5) but we aren't winning a championship.

The day I realized this (sometime many years ago) made my fandom change from fretting over every loss to just enjoying the games and visiting different venues every year. The end goal isn't a championship, but to just enjoy the ride.

By that reasoning, Miami was not in a P5 conference either. There was one independent team in that contest and it wasn't BYU. Agree, that it was a great moment for BYU.

Everybody here, GET A FUCKING CLUE! This didn't happen because the big 12 is stupid or incompetent. (Well, maybe it was stupid or incompetent in initially overlooking BYU's monstrous defects. But that's all.) You guys should be breathing hell fire at LDS leaders and BYU administrators. Regardless of the Big 12, you should be doing this because they are hate mongers and bigots. BYU got what it deserved. Instead, you're all like a bunch of Stepford househusbands.
You got what you wanted and you're still angry? You're a pathetic joke.

Since there was no P5 at the time... I figured referring to Miami as such would be taken to mean a team that is now P5.

That post is a window to SU's character. Not a good moment for him.

Yeah. When a post starts with "Topper is right" you know it's bad.

When is comes to the LDS faith, he has been angry ever since I arrived on the board. Someone told me it is just his trolling. Reputable people will attest he is a really good person.

The only thing I can think of is somewhere along the line he was really butt hurt in his relationship with the LDS church and he can't just let it go and move on.
