In case you don't care to click on the link: tea sipper is a derogatory term for UT students and alumni frequently used (but not always) by Texas A&M students and alumni.

In case you knew this and are just trolling: good job.
Also, Texas is in a conference with TCU and Baylor despite their PAC-12 mindset.

I wasn't trolling. Thanks for the enlightenment. Tea sipper sounds pretty namby pamby for a derogatory term.

Yeah, I am sure Larry Scott would love to have the Longhorn Network help with the fledgling Pac 12 network but I don't think the tea sippers want to share that revenue with a bunch of deadbeats that apparently have no value:

Per Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News, the Pac 12 member schools are receiving on average a return of $1M per school from the Pac 12 Networks this year. We know from South Carolina AD Ray Tanner that the first year return to SEC schools (remember, there are 16 teams in the SEC) will be in the range of $5M or greater per school. just two seasons ago, the Big Ten, which did their media deal in a joint venture with both Fox and CBS, dispersed nearly $8 M per school.
              http://www.uwdawgpound.com/2015/7/3/...-and-expansion

LOL. $1M per school?!? I bet BYU makes more from BYUtv. Keep in mind that Texas gets $15 M per year from the LHN.

I would also not discount the idea of the Pac 12 looking long and hard at other contributors of quality content like BYU, Boise State, Utah State and Colorado State. Not only could members like these help to reinvigorate some natural rivalries, but their presence would increase the value of network through their TV markets (less important) and the volume of desirable content that they would contribute (more important).
Of course, I don't expect SU to read this.

                  PAC12 mindset = obtuse?

Oklahoma currently gets something like 8 million a year for their Tier 3 content in their deal with Fox (that's right, our much celebreated ESPN deal is obliterated by Sooner Tier 3 content).

Obviously, The LongHorn Network is ESPN. Who provider/school is going to break down and cooperate with the other? I don't see Fox giving way to ESPN, allowing ESPN to have SEC/ACC/B1G and then the Big 12 rights. I don't see Texas giving up the $15 million per they get for LHN.

One scenario is that the Big 12 starts a network without the Texas content that ESPN owns, but 9 schools is not enough. So maybe the Big12 grabs 4 schools and suddenly boost their inventory? Of course, networks are exepensive to run, just ask the PAC. Sure would be handy if a potential Big 12 school had HD broadcasting facilities that could be rented by the Big 12 on the cheap.

Offer those facilities up very cheap.

Aha. I never understood why my Aggie neighbors congratulated me for beating the "sips" in reference to UT.

On the flip side, none of us can come up with a pejorative more demeaning than "aggy".

So what is our demeaning pejorative for an Ute? Well, actually...

                              ute

Short for uterus. A derogatory term for describing a woman, as it implies that her only useful purpose is producing offspring.

Jane's only talent is having kids. She's a real ute.

Boren wants the Big 12 to expand to 12 teams, he wants the league to fold Texas’ Longhorn Network and other third-tier properties into a Big 12 Network, and he wants a conference championship game. All at once, in that order, and immediately.

“I think if we try to do it piecemeal, we’re just gonna kind of end up with just a Band-Aid on top,” Boren said. “I think we need a comprehensive plan to strengthen the conference and give it equal status with the other Power 5 conferences.”

Boren wants Big 12 leadership to begin working on implementing all three immediately. League presidents and chancellors meet on Feb. 4-5.
Boren says the best way for the Big 12 to proceed is to first invite two schools and raise membership to 12.

“We have been, as a group, looking at expansion, discussing expansion, and we have had outside consultants helping us look at what schools are the possible best fit,” Boren said. “So there are more than two out there that could be a good fit. There may be six or seven, and we could pick from that group the right two. We have to be very careful. We don’t want to go out and get Okefenokee A&M or something just to have a name.

“We’ll look at the fan base, we’ll look at the size of their programs, we’ll look at the academics of the institutions. We’ll look at them comprehensively as to which is the best fit. And also we’ll consider geography to a certain degree.”
