Steve Patterson: The Eyes of Texas are Upon You!
http://www.foxsports.com/college-foo...-cfb-am-091415
It now appears as if Texas leadership is closing in on making a change.
According to Horns Digest's Chip Brown, Texas president Gregory Fenves is "strongly considering" firing Patterson, who's in the third year of a five-year deal that pays him $1.4 million per year. Fenves became UT's president in June after serving as provost, and there's been constant drama between him and Patterson since, according to Brown.
Atop the list of many reasons why Patterson will probably be fired is this: The number of disgruntled Texas donors continues to rise, and more of them are telling the university that they will no longer give money to UT while Patterson still has his job.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Brown Chip weighs in
http://www.scout.com/college/texas/s...with-patterson
Those complaints have come from dozens of angry donors, including some of Texas’ top givers, sources said. Those donors feel Patterson is running UT like a cold, unfeeling pro sports franchise that views UT faithful as faceless customers – not passionate alums.
As a result, 10,000 football season ticket holders didn't renew for 2015 after an average cost increase of 21.5 percent, coming off a 6-7 season and a five-year record of 36-28.
Texas generously announced a crowd of 86,458 (capacity 100,119) for the Longhorns' 42-28 win over Rice Saturday.
The Red River Shootout against Oklahoma on Oct. 10 - normally one of the toughest tickets in college football - has roughly 8,000 unsold tickets on the Texas side of the Cotton Bowl.
Men's basketball ticket prices have been raised an average of 7 percent by Patterson one year after he raised them an average of 4 percent.
Others have complained to Fenves that Texas is losing stature politically in the Big 12 and nationally, sources said, because Patterson doesn’t have the stature and/or relationships across college athletics of former 32-year, UT athletic director DeLoss Dodds.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Texas: Your mess is our mess
http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextr...c01dc80df.html
Powers, of course, could have put a stop to Dodds’ march to the sea. Common sense could have prevailed. Instead, Powers encouraged Dodds, and now, five years later, the Big 12 lies at the feet of the other Power 5 conferences, weak and trembling and hoping someone comes along with scraps.
The Big 12 is so shaky, commissioner Bob Bowlsby was immediately floated as a replacement for Patterson in Austin. Imagine that, a conference commissioner leaving the league office to take up residence in the Big 12’s true seat of power, Texas.
It seemed a ridiculous notion, and Bowlsby quickly shot it down. Still, everyone knows Texas wields the real power in the Big 12. The commissioner will do whatever the rest of the league presidents and chancellors tell him to, and the rest of the league presidents and chancellors will do whatever Texas executives tell them to do. Good for Bowlsby. So why is this important to anyone outside of Texas?
Because the next Longhorns athletic director will have a significant say on the topic of Big 12 expansion, as well as what the league’s television contracts and other revenue streams look like in the next decade. The Texas AD will tell his president what’s best, and the rest of the Big 12 schools will follow suit.
The Big 12 desperately needs to make those decisions from a position of strength. Otherwise, it could dissolve altogether, scattered to the four leagues.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Bowlsby sez: Utah is a bottom feeder :
http://www.thegazette.com/subject/sp...ayoff-20150916
“I don’t know if there’s anybody out there that really adds value,” Bowlsby said. “Rutgers and Maryland came in (to the Big Ten). You look at Utah and Colorado (to the Pac-12). Most of the expansion, the ACC is another good example, most of the expansion has come in the lower half of the league when they come in. Anybody that’s out there for us would have to come in logically the lower half of our league in terms of the prominence of the institution and the amount of value that they bring.Fitter. Happier.
