I recently wrote this to a friend.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostSays that this is a great opportunity for Utah. Notes our football record against the Pac 10. We belong.
Yes, 'tis sweet. There is the ability now to be closer to my Utes as they do battle with the Huskies and the Pac 10 brethren. There is the distinction of hosting the USC Trojans in RES. (Remember I went to the last USC game up here; I was not too jaded to get chills seeing "USC Trojans" on the scoreboard from the parking lot; I WILL fly to SLC for that.) There is the recruiting edge it will give the Utes over their detested rival down south. There is the pathway to a real NC game. There is the vindication; how often does life so completely provide vindication? Of course, I have cast this as a cosmic event; the Greek way triumphs over tribalism. But most of all (anyone who knows me knows this is true), I love being in any kind of a club with Cal and Stanford. Yes, the Pac is the greatest conference on earth for so many reasons. God bless BYU if it attains status as one of Texas' serfs, but it will never be in the Pac.
Yet, as they say, in may ways, the greatest joy is found in the journey. Yes, my days at the U, the Final Two, the two BSC bowl wins were all part of the rewarding journey. But so was what I've now dubbed the "expansion follies" here on Cuf.
As far as I'm concerned, the cosmos are now in order. This new Pac 12 is the great western conference of my dreams, absent autocratic Texas or that rifraf from Oklahoma or East Texas (see, I always felt the Utes were in one way or other, even if in a Pac 20).When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Thanks all the dignitaries from the U who are present. Has enjoyed their time together "over the last several months."
We would not be hear had the not not distinguished itself as a research institution, academically and on the field.
Offers official welcome on behalf of the member schools.
Utah is a great fit. Top 100 research. Shares values with the Pac 10.

Utah Nobel laureate joins more than 100 others in the Pac 10.
Football success is well know. "Conference of Champions" 320 NCAA titles. 100 more than next closest which is Big 10. Utah brings 20 of its own. If the Pac 10 had been a country it would have been 6th in the medal count at the Olympics.

That line is going to leave a mark.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostConference values rivalries. Looking forward to adding the MUSS.
Pac 10 has justed added the two most prestigious institutions in the Mountain Time Zone. They will help Pac 10 achieve its goals."The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
