The Ute in me says BYU can rot in non-BCS purgatory

You're right. I don't get what this board is about when I say BYU deserves to be in a BCS Conference and I get told I'm a fucking douchebag. I certainly don't get what it's about when a Utah fan, over the most innocuous of posts (not this one), tells me to take a flying leap.

I'm honestly trying to play nice here. I'm not interested in carrying the flag at every opportunity like I frequently was on CB. But I haven't said anything that a segment of BYU fans wouldn't say themselves if the shoe were on the other foot.

My guess is the name of this site a complete misnomer. A site in which only the apologist, ass-kissing, self-loathing, grovelling and milquetoast-ish of Utah fans will be welcome, where they can come to prove with all their might that they're not nearly as repulsive as (some) BYU fans think.

At least CB is honest about its intentions with the name of its site.

Seriously? Are you really going to play the victim here? I'm not a regular, but the majority of the folks that post here are intelligent people who actually put value in intelligent discourse. Some of those are Ute fans and not being nasty doesn't make them milquetoast-ish or self-loathing, it makes them civil*. So if you're wondering why a poster with a reputation for antagonizing who comes into an emotionally charged situation giving backhanded and condescending "compliments" is not warmly received, you're either not too bright or you're disingenuous. I suppose some combination of the two is possible.

*In case you're wondering how I define civil: In this case, I define it as pretty much the opposite of accusing a female poster on a rival board of being a stripper and then returning to brag about it on your own board.

The way I would describe the ethos of this board is that people here generally try to pretend they are sitting across the table from each other having a respectful, often friendly conversation. (The Ute fan would having a Coke or a cup of coffee, while the BYU fan is having something from the Creamery.) So although at least one regular here often violates that unspoken rule (and he seems to be joking most of the time), an in-your-face post like yours is jarring. Kind of like when I took my puppy to a friend's house and she peed on the carpet. Everyone here is housebroken, mostly.

Funniest part of this whole 2 month episode is watching Ute fans finally admit that for more than 2 decades their program was a laughing stock. Took a jump to the PAC-10 to finally admit it because it would mean admitting that it wasn't just BYU that beat you regularly. Spare me all of your "I freely admitted we weren't any good" crap, btw. It's just funny is all.

You apparently haven't read many messages from many Ute fans. I've seen plenty of Ute fans posts over the years freely admitting that the Ute program completely sucked in the 70's and 80's. It didn't start to turn around until McBride was hired. That first 34-31 game was the first signal that Utah was finally turning things around.

If you want to talk about denial, see how many Cougar fans think that BYU has owned Utah over the last 20 years. Most think that Utah has only won a handful of games, when in fact, it is an even series since 1990 (BYU 10, Utah 10).
