I prefer eight twelve team conferences with an 8 team playoff for the conference champions. Cap Division 1 at 96 teams. Decide what the criteria will be for Division 1 status, give everyone 4 years notice, and start in 2015.

Does BYU often leak things to the media, especially when negotiations are ongoing? Remember, Mormon culture places a high value on secrecy.

I have no inside info but I believe that the Big 12-2 will get back to 12 teams sooner rather than later and BYU is in a good position to be seriously considered.

I agree with this assessment. They want that championship game. I think that after what happened just now, they want things to settle down before making the jump in a year or two. I wouldn't be surprised at all if BYU were invited at that time.

I don't know, nor do I actually believe that they are negotiating with them. SU said that there would be leaks to the press. I challenge that assumption.

I agree. The Big 12 now has a problem finding two teams. BYU is an obvious choice for one slot, but I just don't know how they add another team. Short of Arkansas bolting the SEC and hoping it can better recruit out of Texas with an association with the Big 12, I just don't see where that 12th team is coming from.

Can you move up and down between Div 1 and Div 1 AA (or whatever) by winning/losing? I.e. team 96 should be booted and the top Div 1AA team raised up each year EPL style.

I don't think you can by wins and loses but I think there is a rule regarding attendance yet I have yet to see that enforced. There are a number of schools that haven't met the attendance requirement.

This will be interesting. Will any conference demonstrate that it truly is about the money and nothing else by accecpting a 2-10 Memphis that came in last in CUSA?
