Using your retrospectrometer and looking back to 2003, which non-AQ team would you predict to be the first to go to a BCS game? I'm pretty sure Utah was not at the top of that list either.

I can't argue with that. This is all about prognosticating based on what we do know going forward. Hell for all we know it's another team out of the MWC not on that list.

What makes you think that the BCS will ever allow the MWC into it's little club?

Actually I think this conference expansion stuff is all about that. It would not surprise me in the least to see TCU, BYU, BSU all in BCS conferences (in addition to Utah) within the next few years. Give the overachieving "mid-majors" a seat at the table and you don't have to upset the entire apple cart.

I can agree that those "overachieving" teams would get an invite to a BCS conference before the BCS would ever allow the MWC (or any other conference) to sit at the table with them. They like the disparity they've tried to create.

Is Moore going to redshirt this year? Because I'm pretty sure he's a junior.

Boise St: strong program that will have a 4-year starter at QB in 2011.
TCU: until they stop producing running backs and reloading on D, they'll be great.
Utah: experienced team with quality starting QB. depends on their PAC division in 2011.
BYU: not an insult to them, but the three teams ahead of them have proven their ability to achieve BCS games.

I'd also like to state that Utah isn't receiving enough credit in this thread because they'll be in the AQ conference. Utah could play in the Rose Bowl with a 10-3 record, while the MWC champ could go 10-2 and end up in the Vegas Bowl. I think an 11-1 MWC champ would be BCS-bound, depending on what happens with a Fresno St or Houston.

I'm guessing Boise heads back again in the next couple of years. I think BYU will make it before Utah does. I don't think Utah should keep BYU on the schedule.

One thing to consider about the Rose Bowl, though, is that Utah will have the P12 tiebreaker working in its favor. If several teams finish tied for first with two losses, the one that's been the longest out of the Rose Bowl gets to go. That team, I'm guessing, would be Utah.

Wouldn't they count eligibility from when they joined the conference?

except in that situation they will play a championship game and the winner will get to go to the Rose Bowl.

Looks like they amended that, anyway. Now it says the team higher ranked in the BCS goes. If there's still a tie, then the teams "that have represented the conference in the Rose Bowl most recently" are eliminated from consideration.

Sorry I didnt realize you were talking about a scenario like the little 12 south where Oklahoma played in the champ game.

You're not even in the Pac 10 officially yet and you're calling the Big 12 the little 12? Conference smack? I bet at RES the fans are going to be doing Pac 12 chants like you hear in the SEC. LOL.

The Big 12-2 > Pac 10+2. Sorry just being honest.

no, you were right. I was forgetting about the fact that they're presumably adding a pac-10 championship game.
