Sure it does. They will be mathematically incapable of carrying 85 scholarship athletes.Originally posted by woot View PostSo it doesn't actually affect the cap of 85? Still, that seems pretty serious, especially with the combination of no postseason and free transfers for upperclassmen.

USC has a lengthy track record of breaking the rules. It's not even close to being "ridiculously harsh".Originally posted by woot View PostYeah this actually seems ridiculously harsh. I'm all for parity so I guess it's fun to see one of the big boys brought down, but not like this.
Was the crime really severe enough to justify destroying the football program for 3 years? Is USC's recent track record sufficient for them to recover quickly when it's over?
It seems that the number of players who transfer asap will be a sign. I fell sorry for the incoming freshmen, who just got royally screwed.

Yeah I just read where the severity is more due to the other recent infractions than the stuff with Reggie Bush's parents. That makes more sense.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostUSC has a lengthy track record of breaking the rules. It's not even close to being "ridiculously harsh".

Link (Not sure how good it is..):Originally posted by The_Tick View PostI haven't been able to find any links to the "free transfer for upper classmen" that some folks have been mentioning.
Is this the case? And if so...does this help Kavienga at all?

Isn't he going on a mission? Unless this makes him want to stay and play, it shouldn't do anything for him.Originally posted by The_Tick View PostI haven't been able to find any links to the "free transfer for upper classmen" that some folks have been mentioning.

That is one of the funniest paragraphs I have read in quite some time.If I'm USC football coach Lane Kiffin, I'm on a mission. Or, more specifically, my players are. Kiffin's best option after the NCAA dropped the hammer on his program is to encourage his best young players to serve two-year religious missions, which pause the NCAA's eligibility clock. The players can choose whatever faith they wish, but after two years they can return to USC with their eligibility intact and attempt to lead the Trojans to a national title in 2012, the next season they'll be allowed to play in a postseason game. Of course, they'll probably have to beat Texas in the Pac-16 championship game, but why worry about the details? Start handing out the holy books.

Maybe this is a way for the church to improve it's image in California following the Prop 8 vote - Announce that it will allow nonmembers to serve public realtions/service missions under it's direction. NCAA hands out their penalties to USC
From the Times: No bowl games for the next two seasons and they have to vacate every victory that Reggie Bush participated in (including their BCS title Orange Bowl victory in '05) among other things. Ouch.Last edited by pelagius; 06-10-2010, 04:29 PM. Reason: moved - just keeping things in the same threadKids in general these days seem more socially retarded...
None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.
I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.
