Was the crime really severe enough to justify destroying the football program for 3 years? Is USC's recent track record sufficient for them to recover quickly when it's over?

It seems that the number of players who transfer asap will be a sign. I fell sorry for the incoming freshmen, who just got royally screwed.
The Buckeye fans are laughing their ass off about Sentrel Hendersen. Jokes about his dad can make a rap song about it etc.. I guess Sentrel's Dad had aspirations of a rap career..

Sure it does. They will be mathematically incapable of carrying 85 scholarship athletes.

USC has a lengthy track record of breaking the rules. It's not even close to being "ridiculously harsh".

Yeah I just read where the severity is more due to the other recent infractions than the stuff with Reggie Bush's parents. That makes more sense.

I haven't been able to find any links to the "free transfer for upper classmen" that some folks have been mentioning.

Is this the case? And if so...does this help Kavienga at all?

That was a nice attempt to throw the womens tennis team underneath the bus. Maybe if they would have thrown in the mens gymnastics team that could have sealed the deal.

Isn't he going on a mission? Unless this makes him want to stay and play, it shouldn't do anything for him.

                    From this article on si.com

If I'm USC football coach Lane Kiffin, I'm on a mission. Or, more specifically, my players are. Kiffin's best option after the NCAA dropped the hammer on his program is to encourage his best young players to serve two-year religious missions, which pause the NCAA's eligibility clock. The players can choose whatever faith they wish, but after two years they can return to USC with their eligibility intact and attempt to lead the Trojans to a national title in 2012, the next season they'll be allowed to play in a postseason game. Of course, they'll probably have to beat Texas in the Pac-16 championship game, but why worry about the details? Start handing out the holy books.
That is one of the funniest paragraphs I have read in quite some time.

Maybe this is a way for the church to improve it's image in California following the Prop 8 vote - Announce that it will allow nonmembers to serve public realtions/service missions under it's direction. It could be like the peace corps

NCAA hands out their penalties to USC

From the Times: No bowl games for the next two seasons and they have to vacate every victory that Reggie Bush participated in (including their BCS title Orange Bowl victory in '05) among other things. Ouch.

Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.
