There are plenty of cons. The biggest is the tension that will exist between me and my inlaws. Of course they are only BSU fans when Oregon isn't winning.Originally posted by Jacob View PostYes, it will happen.
Pros: Lots of them
Cons: None"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

If BYU ends up left out of conference expansion and one of Utah or TCU gets added to a BCS conference, it's a no brainer.
If the MWC stays the same after all the shuffling is done, then I still think you have to do it. I don't like adding teams and wish there was a way to replace one of the bottom feeders (starts with a W).

I am a BYU football fan. I don't really care about the other sports or the university itself, so I think it is a huge plus. New blood. A team worth hating. Outside of Utah and TCU, the rest of the MWC sucks too bad to hate.Originally posted by Jacob View PostYes, it will happen.

Pros:
MWC gets a football team that is currently doing well in football.
More validity when submitting the appeal for BCS auto-status. It will probably be denied though.
An easy-road trip for Wasatch-fronters.
Cons:
Smaller slice of the pie.
Doesn't improve conference footprint.
9 game uneven conference schedule.
Blue turf.

Like Jay, I with we could drop a bottom feeder. I do like Wyoming though. And I like beating them. I'd ditch New Mexico."Remember to double tap"

That blue turf has to go. I'm not a fan of Boise State. But timing is everything and they have a lot to offer right now. In the long run I am less confident in their abilities. What do they offer when they go through an "off" period when they aren't that good in football? Does the university offer anything else of benefit? I know they have a good wrestling program but I don't see how that helps us much. No denying they have done an amazing job with their football program and Coach Peterson is not only a great coach, but a class act. I'm just a little nervous about what they have to offer.

Hey as long as we get their record for the BCS conference evaluation, that's all we need! They can suck all they want after we get the autobid."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

Boise State football has been doing well for nigh on a decade. They are not a fly by night program.Originally posted by beefytee View PostPros:

Boise will bring another Bowl tie in. I would wager that the slice of the pie stays the same unless we get BCS inclusion then the pie gets bigger.Last edited by Flystripper; 06-04-2010, 01:31 PM.Dyslexics are teople poo...

You do know that since Boise has been a D1 program that have performed very very well in football, right? I don't see why they would go through a significant off period when for more than 10 years and 4 head coaches they have not had an "off" period.Originally posted by USU Coug View PostThat blue turf has to go. I agree with this. They would be an instant favorite to win the conference. They have only lost one game to MWC teams. I don't know if they can maintain it, but no MWC team has dominated year in and year out.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostBoise State football has been doing well in football for nigh on a decade. Depends on your perspective. I'm only looking at it as a fan, and I can't think of a single reason I wouldn't want the MWC to add Boise.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostLOL. You must not have to do any risk analysis in your profession.
If I were approaching it from the perspective of the conference, I would find a few cons.

Boise is a football school and has done well ever since their days as BJC. They will continue to do well. If the field in Provo was blue 99% of the fans would think what a clever marketing idea and believe God made them smart enough to think of the idea before anybody else did. The basketball program sucks but they have a great place to play and being in the MWC should really help them.
