His point being that 2nd place undefeated teams are forgettable.
I thought his point was that there were enough undefeated 2nd place teams to fill pages and pages of history books. Not that they were forgettable.

I know. But they did win 2 more game over those 5 years. It's stuff like this that sucks me into these threads. See the LA Ute quote in my sig line.

There are layers and layers to his point. It's a choose your own adventure.

97 was Michigan and Nebraska. 92 was Colorado? I am also guessing 86 was Miami just because of the 30 for 30 I watched a couple of months ago pointed out there dominance during that era.

I don't think that is a fair assessment. I can see how one could come to the conclusion of picking either scenario. However, if you were to ask the players, I wonder which they would choose.

                I got 1997 and 1991 right (I assume you didn't mean 1992).

How was 1986 a MNC? The bowl game was 1 vs. 2 with both teams the only undefeated.

If you said to somebody that BYU won a national title, they'd say "oh yeah, I remember that now" whereas if you said that Utah won a national title they'd say "you're a big friggin' liar".

MNC is a generic term for a NC handed out by pollsters, regardless of the games. I chose 3 random years to see who could remember them, given that is the question at hand.

Is someone other than SU arguing that Utah won a national title?

Arnie will always have a place in the heart of Utah fans, the rest of the nation/world could care less. Thanks for supporting my point.

I have a hard time believing it is as well.
