Are Jeremiah Masoli and Matangi Tonga related?

This is obviously big news if true, and not in the best interests of the P10 to have a strong Oregon team be weakened by the loss of personnel.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostOne report from a Portland media outlet says that Masol's locker has already been cleared out. Kelly will make an announcement regarding LMJ and Masoli tomorrow. I see LMJ getting a few games, and I think Masoli is done.
What is your thought on how Kelly explains the LMJ suspension? Kelly has suspended a player for a DUI. He dismissed a player for facebook/twitter insubordination. He may dismiss a player for stealing a computer. If LMJ admits to assaulting a woman, wouldn't that be considered much more serious than attempting to steal a laptop from a frathouse or posting profanity on twitter?
Lache Seastrunk could see significant time as a true frosh next season.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I don't get it. What's the point of ruining his life? He stole a lap top from a fraternity. He didn't kill anybody. He didn't train killer dogs and make them kill each other. I'd give him a second chance. He doesn't deserve to be completely destroyed. This is stupid.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostChip Kelly denying the Masoli rumors....says locker has not been cleaned out and that his fingerprints were not found on laptop

1. Masoli has already been convicted for robbery several years ago and served some time in juvenile hall. i think he was 17 or so at the time?
2. He lied about this particular incident (technically he is still innocent)
3. in the past 8-9 weeks, Chip has already doled out all kinds of silly, premature and harsh sentences to players for various weak violations. He kicked a kid off the team after the guy posted an insubordinate rants on twitter. He also kicked a kid off the team for getting a DUI. Another kid got kicked off the team for an unspecified violation of team rules.
So the bar has already been set due to Kelly's lousy timing. How does Kelly explain kicking a kid off the team for a twitter post and then say that Masoli can stay after being arrested (a second time in his life) for robbery/burglary? I have no idea how Kelly will be able to wiggle out of it. I have the same question with their RB, James. He is now pleading no contest to choking a woman. Well, if you get kicked off the team for twitter posts, where does choking women rank?
The whole thing is a huge mess, handled poorly.
I don't think Masoli's career should end over a stolen laptop, but not sure how Oregon navigates this PR disaster otherwise.
Masoli did not do himself any favors by being a repeat offender and by lying (allegedly) about this instance.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

There are a few differences, 1 LMJ will be pleading guilty to a low misdemeanor. So regardless of what the cause was, there was not enough evidence or assault for the police to charge him with something more serious. The current story is that a girl he was dating found out he was sleeping with other girls and was keying his car at 2 AM, he pushed her away from the car and screamed and swore at her. IF this is true, you certainly don't solve anything with violence, but that is a lot different than a felony charge of any kind.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThis is obviously big news if true, and not in the best interests of the P10 to have a strong Oregon team be weakened by the loss of personnel.

Oregon was already a second chance for Masoli, he had issues in HS with violence and theft that resulted in him spending time in juvie. I'd be open to him not being kicked off the team, but am having a hard time thinking what I would be okay with. If he is just starting the New Mexico game on Sept 4th like nothing happened I will be disappointed. (Obviously barring some case changing facts that will come out during a trial)
This has taken so much wind out of my sails for Oregon football, I want to be excited for what should have been a great season for the Ducks. Right now I just can't find it.Get confident, stupid

I don't believe Holland was kicked off the team for his Twitter/Facebook posting. That was just coincidental timing. If you remember Holland has been suspended multiple times for academic and rule violations during his time at Oregon, and was suspended for the Rose Bowl.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Post3. in the past 8-9 weeks, Chip has already doled out all kinds of silly, premature and harsh sentences to players for various weak violations. Kiko Alonso that got the DUI is not kicked off the team, he is just suspended for the year. Similar punishment to what Bronco gave to Van Noy.Get confident, stupid

It is confirmed that he will be pleading to a misdemeanor? I had read he was pleading no contest to the assault charge? A plea down would be in his best interest, obviously.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostThere are a few differences, 1 LMJ will be pleading guilty to a low misdemeanor. I guess Masoli is done, then.
Who is the next in line under center for the Ducks? Can they keep running this spread option or will they have to basically retool the entire offense? that is a huge change.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

LMJ was only ever charged with a misdemeanor. From what I understand he is not pleading down, he is changing his plea from Not Guilty to No Contest. I don't understand the difference between No Contest and Guilty, but I assume there is some.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostIt is confirmed that he will be pleading to a misdemeanor? The next QB will be Darron Thomas. He has shown flashes when he played as a true frosh in 2008. He nearly brought Oregon back against BSU, and then made a big play in both the Civil War blow out of Oregon State and the Holiday Bowl against Okie State. He is not a power runner like Masoli, but compares more to Dennis Dixon in style.Get confident, stupid

Tough off season HFN. At least Thomas will get all the snaps during spring ball. If he's not up to snuff, the duckies face an uphill battle; trust me after this last season with our fat qb, having a guy ready & prepared is key. Is Thomas as quick as Dixon?Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostLMJ was only ever charged with a misdemeanor. There's something wrong with a system that elevates Masoli to sueprstar status in a big and glamorous multimillion dollar entertainment enterprise, and he's reduced to stealing a lap top from a fraternity. Who's the victim here? When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

The victim is the fraternity that had its computer stolen.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThere's something wrong with a system that elevates Masoli to sueprstar status in a big and glamorous multimillion dollar entertainment enterprise, and he's reduced to stealing a lap top from a fraternity. Masoli has nobody but himself to blame for his actions. He can choose his actions, but he can't choose the consequences of those actions. That he's an athlete who might have had a chance to make millions in pro football is irrelevant, because he broke the law. If he doesn't want doesn't want his chance to play pro ball taken away, he should have obeyed the law and not stolen the laptop."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill
