I think BYU will still have a good offense, but this is a huge loss. Collie was BYU's best offensive player and constantly demanded a double team. I think BYU's offense takes a definite step back next year.

Between Collie and Reed leaving, that's a lot of offense. But, like the Utes, there is some talent waiting in the wings. As you point out though, defenses will not double anyone on that O except maybe Pitta.

Collie is a huge loss. BYU now only has one wide receiver that has really proven himself in McKay Jacobson and he did that 2 years ago and is just coming off a mission. Yes Austin made an immediate impact coming home last year straight off of his mission. Mckay is good but IMO he is not as good as Collie. If anyone says that BYU O will not skip a beat on O they really don't understand how good Austin really was at the college level.

CB is going to be manic next year when BYU loses Hall, Unga, and Pitta all at once. It will be fantastic.

He's a much greater loss than most are willing to concede. The guy is going to give you 100 yards receiving a game. He is going to make defenses game plan specifically for him.

Bottom line: Collie is a playmaker. BYU doesn't have any playmakers now. They rarely have a playmaker of his caliber. The last one that is comparable in my estimation is Staley. When he touches the ball your ass starts to come out of your seat because at any moment he was going to explode. BYU no longer has that. Not on kick returns or split wideout. He is a huge loss in that regard.

I also think that his loss will hurt Hall the most. They were the 10pm workout buddies. Hall could throw it to Collie and Collie would make things happen. He doesn't have that go to anymore. I am really worried about Hall's production next year without his brother. Anae really needs to focus the team around Unga as Sizzle was saying last night.

We are losing the best receivers in BYU history, and another receiver that is a 4 year major contributor in Mike Reed.

next year thecontributing receivers are as follows:

Player 2008 receptions
Oneill Chambers 3
Spencer Hafoka 1
Luke Ashworth 3
Mckay Jacobsen 0
Brett Thompson 0 (true freshman)
Marcus Matthews 0 (true freshman,just off mission)

So we will have 7 total receptions from our receivers next year. Now we did have over 100 between pitta and george that are returning but at the Wideout position we may be in trouble.

I may be in the minority, but I am getting impatient waiting for Chambers to finally fill the measure of his creation. Will he step up next season or is he going to wind up being all bark no bite?
