I still think, however, that it hurts BYU not having Collie as talent level decreases, and running the ball more would be an issue of philosophy and not talent.

I ask this over here because I don't want to be the cougarboard response that "it will help BYU because now Hall will have to spread the ball around."

I think BYU will still have a good offense, but this is a huge loss. Collie was BYU's best offensive player and constantly demanded a double team. I think BYU's offense takes a definite step back next year.

It is never good to lose the best reciever to ever play at your school. However, I am more concerned about fixing the linebackers than who will replace Collie. Austin Collie is a special player for BYU but I have seen BYU's offense work just fine with kids like Ashworth, Hafoka and Jacobsen. Losing Collie will hurt, but I have long felt that the level to which BYU's offense will perform next year depends upon Hall regardless if Collie is there or not.

I don't think the step back is as pronounced as the word "definite."

Funny you cite Milsap. Last week when the jazz played LA, I was watching the highlights on the local news after the game.

The sportscaster referred to him as Robby Milsap.

Collie is a huge loss. BYU now only has one wide receiver that has really proven himself in McKay Jacobson and he did that 2 years ago and is just coming off a mission. Yes Austin made an immediate impact coming home last year straight off of his mission. Mckay is good but IMO he is not as good as Collie. If anyone says that BYU O will not skip a beat on O they really don't understand how good Austin really was at the college level.

The pressure on McKay just went from a lot to probably more than any fresh RM should have to face. Austin was the exception to what a kid just back from a mission does. McKay may be great, I hope he is, but to expect him to have a great year this year puts very unrealistic expectations on him.

Honestly, and maybe because I didn't watch McKay every day of the year, I didn't think Jacobsen was half the WR Collie was as a freshman. I thinK Jacobsen will be a fine player and contributer, but Collie was special. Ashworth, Jacobsen and Chambers have their work cut out for them. One "dark-horse" who could step up is Spencer Hafoka. I was impressed with his HS film, but haven't really seen anything from him yet.

I haven't seen Hafoka other than the Skyline/Kahuku game at Rice Eccles. He didn't impress in that game.
