The Utes are frustrated this morning. They went to bed with a sliver of hope. KW was calling AP voters all over the country, acting the fool, trying his hardest to beg effectively.

Ute fans wake up this morning and are shocked, SHOCKED that the AP didn't buy into their bag of tricks, so now they are pissed. They are also kicking themselves for being fair-weather and not flying to the SUGAR BOWL to witness a great accomplishment. Instead, they stayed home to watch what they assumed would be a loss, only to realize that they didn't give their own team enough credit. So where do they lash out this morning?......BYU in 1984.

I think it was Fiyero that complained about digging up SI articles from 2001. Well, 2001 was only 7 years ago. Now we have rogue Zoots digging up stuff from 1984 because they are desperate and disappointed. As Fiyero said, Don't be a [zoot], be a fan. Don't let the envy consume you.

This season is now over. And, once again, only one team in Utah has ever won a national championship.

Congrats to this year's Utah Utes. They had a killer season, to be sure. But they are still in the chill of the giant shadow from the South.

The whole story doesn't make sense to me. IF you are calling to campaign, you are doing it during the national championship game...why wouldn't he be watching it? And, why would he risk distracting the writers whose votes he is trying to get from doing their job...doesn't hold water. If you wait until afterwards, you're calling eastern writers after midnight and most other writers after 10:00Pm.

I'm not buying what was reported unless I get some kind of clarification.

But if you are stumping for your team, you are doing it whenever you can. You are desperate.

Also, I would assume that most coaches have financial incentives to finish with #1 rankings. KWhit could have been on the clock last night to at least get a nice cash bonus. I dont blame him for that.

Do you have a better explanation for a facebook page comparing this year's Utah team to the 1984 BYU team? What is the point of that, if not LBS?

Where is SeattleUte this morning? He has had loads of free time every day since the SUGAR BOWL. All of a sudden the final rankings come out, Utah is not ranked #1 in any of them, SC is ranked ahead of Utah in almost all of them, and SU is somehow AWOL. Where is Fiyero, also? MRD?

I think most of them are licking their wounds. They are somewhat in shock, which is what usually happens when you come down off a SUGAR high and get back to reality. Ute fans this week really bought into their own kool aid. They finally have to accept that most other people around the country didn't enjoy the taste as much.

Maybe they can, but seriously enjoy being the number 2 team in teh country and a great season, dont immediately start comparing your accomplisments to BYU.

fwiw, there are many a BYU fans that are loudly proclaiming that BYU still has the only National Championship...and talk about all of the awards their players have won. BYU fans compare their program with Utah all the time. It really goes both ways.

I simply compare Utah's program to Utah States. That always makes me feel happy about all of our Utes' accomplishments.

You almost wonder if Whit's borderline classless behavior last night was what wound up sealing his fate. He probably annoyed more voters than he swayed. It would be ironic if his efforts are what actually sealed his doom.
