I believe MRD predicted a Ute blowout, and he went to NO. Props to MRD.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Nice, I'm sure MRD will now run into 5,000,000,000 Ute fans who will claim they were in NOLA. Also, props to him for calling the blowout prior to kickoff.

Did I expect the Utes to win? My truthful answer is that the only thing I ever expect to happen in games, no matter the sport, is to be entertained. I felt the Utes could win it if they played their best game of the season, but I didn't expect them to win or lose.

And it is absolute BS because you assume to know why the majority of those that didn't go chose to not go.
You seem to be assuming to know. You are just assuming that they had really good reasons unrelated to the one I am giving. How is that different?

I maintained that if things fell right, a win was possible, but I didn't want to make any guarantees to give Alabama any bulletin board material.

I think that most thought that Utah shouldn't have been in the discussion prior to the game, but that the game was an opportunity for Utah to earn its way into the NC discussion. Not only did they win, but they hit Alabama in the mouth time and time again with little to no response. It was a performance that not only shocked Utah County, but the nation at large.

They won and they earned the respect that the nation and pundits weren't giving them before hand.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

It isn't different. I may be as full of BS as you are in this regard.

Yes, he did. And props to him.

Also, big props to all the fans that went to the biggest game in the school's football history and had the time of their lives.

Biggest props to those that would have gone but for previous commitments, misc reasons, and general malaise.

                    or

"Utah should be playing in the national title game not the Sugar Bowl?

Were you just happy that Utah was in another BCS game? Now all of the sudden because you beat Bama you deserve a shot at the national title? What about the teams that before their bowl game deserved a shot? Like USC, Texas, Florida and Oklahoma?
Had we played Michigan at the end of the season, then yes.

                        It was funny.

And I'll admit on NY's D I almost cashed in some miles and just went, but considering the political consequences of such actions assuaged my feelings.

It just seems silly to me that after 1 game Utah all of the sudden deserves to be national champs, when even at 12-0 nobody was bitching that they didnt have a shot at the title.

Does Boston College deserve to be ranked number 1 because they beat North Carolina in hoops the other night?
No one deserves to be national champions. I don't think Utah is the best team in the country at all, but I think they have a claim to a M NC as much as anyone.

After watching that game, it became obvious to a lot of people that Utah belongs in that conversation but prior to that game it just didn't feel that way.
