I just don't know how you can say this. Beck beat TCU so I guess that is a slight plus for him. Both beat Utah in dramatic fashion, only Hall did it twice instead of once. Hall won 2 bowls, one against the best at least per rankings bowl opponent BYU has faced since 1996?

If Beck is better than Hall it is by .00000000000000000000000000000001 not >>>

pretty much agree and I give the edge to Hall for his body of work over 3 years.

This isn't about who has the best arm. This is about who was a better qb for BYU.

Success-wise, absolutely Hall is better (sounds funny, I know). But I still think Beck was just a better QB overall (more athletic). I think Beck would have been a better fit in the '07, '08 seasons.

SeattleUte, how dare you. I think I should just respond to most of your posts with that.

HotLunch, glad you mentioned Parris Warren. I was surprised he hadn't been mentioned earlier. Didn't Reed just break his record for for receptions?

I think he did break his single season record. I included Paris Warren because he might of had the best back to back seasons by a receiver the U has ever seen. David Reed was awesome this year, he wasn't the go to guy last year like he was this year.

I'm surprised he wasn't used more last season to be honest. He's got to be the best receiver the Utes have seen since Warren/Smith, and he is most definitely the best player off that Sugar Bowl team. IMO his touchdown in the Sug was the game saver.

Especially seeing the talent he was on the field this year as well. The one thing about Warren that should be noted, he did what he did with other good receivers on the field with him in Steve Savoy and Travis Lateendresse. Reed really didn't have anyone else and was the 1st option every play. I guess you could look at that both ways though.

No, I think you're right. I was just thinking that myself. If I was thinking it, it was probably right.

Warren had his fair share of assistance on that '04 team. However, I am going to be so bold as to say that Reed is just a better player than Warren, and we know how good Warren was.

It seems that Reed could create his own plays, whereas Warren was just textbook. You know better than I do though.

                        Hey! I mentioned him first!

He was good, but a large number of his receptions were shovel passes, which is why I put Reed above him.

Beck endured the Crowton years and came out a great BYU quarterback. His size, arm strength, ability to read and audible, and running ability are all better than Hall. There's no way to compare their body of work because Beck came into a frenetic situation while Hall came into a stable one.

I love Hall but he's not as good as Beck.

Speaking of Paris Warren, I was reading a blog about Onterrio Smith this week by one of his former Oregon teammates. Paris Warren, Dante Stallworth and Onterrio Smith were on the same HS team. Holy crap, I could have been the QB on that team and looked good.

That is like when Helix High had Alex Smith, Reggie Bush and Todd Watkins.
