I think Paris was a Sophomore when Dante and Onterrio were seniors.

Alex said that he used to want Reggie to get tackled so he could finally throw the ball. Reggie was also the reason Alex and Todd weren't recruited very heavily coming out of High School. They only threw the ball 10 to 12 times a game.

That was it, I was thinking there was another HS that had a similar situation with BYU/Utah ties but I couldn't remember.

Hall has more passing yards, more rushing yards, more TDs, more wins and a better PER for his career than Beck, yet Beck >>> Hall. This is good to know.

Hall had a stable program all the way through. Beck did not.

If I had to choose one of them to quarterback my team it would be Beck every time.

Same here. If their situations had been reversed comparing the two would be laughable.

              5. Jan Jorgensen
I endorse this list. Unga and Pitta were awesome. But Staley was seriously special. He's the kind of player where every time he touched the ball something amazing could happen. When he got the hand off or pitch I was usually on the edge of my seat. No other BYU player has done that for me. That feeling just doesn't exist with any other BYU offensive player of the last decade, save maybe, Collie and perhaps Watkins.

Right on the money. '02-'06, right? Ouch.

Typical argument. Using that logic, Tony Eason >>>> Tom Brady.

Quick question for you and anybody else using this excuse (an excuse is exactly what it is since the actual results show Hall was better)...

Since you are disregarding Hall's advantage in production and penalizing him for playing when he did and overlooking Beck's lack of production and elevating him for playing when he did, how much better would Hall have had to be than Beck in order to make up for his playing from 2007 - 2009 instead of 2004-2006? Hall amassed 11,500 yards, 94 TDs and won 32 games, compared to Beck's 11,000 yards, 79 TDs and 22 wins.

15,000 yards, 120 TDs and 45 wins, perhaps? Maybe 17,500 yards, 150 TDs and 48 wins? Or would 13,000 yards, 105 TDs and 44 wins have done the trick?

Oh geez. There's more to this than just stats. However if you just want to go by stats compare Beck and Hall's junior and senior seasons:

                        Junior

G Effic Att-Cmp -Int Pct Yds TD Lng Avg/G
                        -----------------------------------------------------------------------
                        Beck 12 137.55 513-331 -13 64.5 3709 27 67 309.1
                        Hall 13 137.71 496-298 -12 60.1 3848 26 66 296.0

                        Senior

G Effic Att-Cmp -Int Pct Yds TD Lng Avg/G
                        -----------------------------------------------------------------------
                        Beck 12 169.05 417-289 -8 69.3 3885 32 71 323.8
                        Hall 13 157.21 477-330 -14 69.2 3957 35 76 304.4

Statistically both of the seasons are similar. So whenthings are fairly even (even though I still like Beck statistically) how do you decide who's better?

Arm strength, size, ability to read defenses, and NFL potential. In spite of Beck's career thus far in the NFL he still has more upside for the NFL game.

Hall and Beck were both great quarterbacks and arguments can be made for both of them. I'm just glad we were able to have them back to back. And I expect Bronco, Anae and Doman to generate more great quarterbacks. No wonder I love BYU football.
