I'm sure there are two sides to this story. But it does once again show the powers that be in a university love to take down a sports titan at the slightest opportunity. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

<Yup - he got into coaching as an unpaid grad assistant for Lavell while attending JRC Law at BYU. And IIRC, it was his first exposure to organized football. He didn't even play in high school.>Originally posted by Surfah View PostLeach is TT. They're dumb to fire him over this.
Doesn't Leach have a JD too?
Completely wrong. He got his law degree at Pepperdine and instead of trying to get an actual job, he started with a minimum wage "assistant coaching job" at Cal Poly. Kind if a big leap of faith. But he wasn't a BYU law student or a BYU assistant - both of which I thought were the case...Last edited by statman; 12-29-2009, 09:37 AM.

It's very weird. Almost so weird it's funny. Craig James' son goes and stands in a shed for 3 hours and if he comes out he gets kicked off the team? LOL. I hope that this all shakes out because this inquiring mind wants to know.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostThis story is weird. Keep in mind that Craig James is a John Holmes' sized-tool. And reportedly he's been a pain in the ass to Mike Leach. I've also heard reports it wasn't a shed at all, but an empty bin that was used to carry footballs, pads and other gear out to the practice field. James was told to empty the bin and sit inside of it for the duration of practice.Originally posted by Surfah View PostIt's very weird. Almost so weird it's funny. Edit: it wasn't a bin, but some building the size of a garage. A doctor has said that the action in no way would have caused complications with the concussion and said that the kid was probably better off in the building.
My take: the kid's dad probably was a pain in the ass (if he's a pain in the ass to listen to on TV, imagine if you were coaching his kid) and it caused friction between Leach and the kid. It gets to the point where the kid probably doesn't want to be on the team any more and Leach is also sick of the kid. There are wide varying degrees of concussion and its perfectly possible that the kid milked a mild concussion for all it was worth and Leach saw what was going on. Banishing the kid to the garage was an action taken where there probably wasn't any kind of hope of redeeming the coach-player relationship in this case.Last edited by Color Me Badd Fan; 12-29-2009, 10:35 AM.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

And yes Craig James is a tool. I love the fact that whenever he's near BYU some one brings up the Miracle Bowl. Craig James though usually just goes off on his 200+ yards rushing. Shoot even during the Poinsettia Bowl someone mentioned Whittingham played in that game and had 15 tackles James was running his mouth about how he must have been one of the players that was chasing him and only saw him from behind."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

It sounds like it was a garage-sized building near the practice field that held equipment.Originally posted by Surfah View PostSee that's funny.

I think Leach is a bright enough guy not to mess around with a concussion. I think we're going to find out that the concussion was mild and it occurred quite a while before the incident in the garage.
In addition, a huge portion of Div. 1a players are probably thinking Adam James is a big wuss right now.
Craig James is trying to make this sound like it was the equivalent of the Japanese soldiers breaking Alec Guinness's character on Bridge On the River Kwai or Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke. The truth will probably be much different.Last edited by Color Me Badd Fan; 12-29-2009, 10:38 AM.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Maybe they coax Spike Dykes out of retirement - or maybe get his kid who's the OC at Arizona.Originally posted by Babs View PostGood - I remember you talking about trying to steer her away. His personality is so magnetic he is unable to carry credit cards.
The police often question him, just because they find him interesting.
When he was captured by alien beings, they asked him to probe them.

I have often wondered what Mike Leach would be like without the positive influence of the Church. That which may be asserted without evidence may be dismissed without evidence. -C. Hitchens
