Wow...while that's really sad news, it's much better than what it could have been. The initial report seemed to indicate brain injuries. At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I am glad to hear he is ok. I hope that he is remembered in the opening prayer for the BLUE RIVER SHOOTOUT.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI wonder if he will in any condition to travel for the opener in Dallas? I am sure he will receive a huge ovation when he finally makes it back to attend his first OU game.
Sad news, but he is alive, which is wonderful.Get confident, stupid

To tell you the truth, there are rumors that that is the case, too, but that hasn't been confirmed.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostWow...while that's really sad news, it's much better than what it could have been. The initial report seemed to indicate brain injuries.
His brother was a first-rate WR for us, and is with the Cowboys now. Corey was rumored to be equally talented, but hadn't started playing yet.

Babes' recent aggressive ice cream smack got me thinking about the upcoming BLUE RIVER SHOOTOUT. Now that we are only 6 months out, anybody shoring up plans to attend?
I will definitely be there.
As it stands, my tentative plans are to spend a day in Austin visiting my old BYU roommate, then heading up to Dallas on Friday.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I've been to both. And since I don't drink and have already seen the bridge and the bats, there really isn't much for me in Austin on a repeat basis. Although I agree that it is much more appealing than Dallas.Originally posted by Babs View PostAustin is way more fun than Dallas.
I am assuming that there will be something game-related on Friday night. I was seriously planning on infiltrating the OU festivities because I am most definitely not going to attend a BYU fireside just to listen to Dennis Pitta and Max Hall sing a duet of "Each Life That Touches Ours For Good" while a montage of Austin Collie highlights plays on the screen behind them.
What do the Sooners do? Pep rally? Band/cheerleaders?
I am also hoping that there is some sort of concert going on that night.
Truthfully, Texas is a boring place for tourism. There really isn't much if great interest there, esp if you are coming from a metro area that already has a museum, nightlife, and sports.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Yes, there will undoubtedly be an official pep rally, probably in the parking lot of the official hotel. But the truth is that nobody really pays attention to if/when/where there's anything "official" going on.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI

Sooner fans will do whatever they want, but whatever it is it will most certainly be non-HC-friendly. If the OU-Texas game is any indication, most fans will go to the West End on Friday night and again after the game. But this game is in Arlington, not in Dallas like the RRR, so I'm not sure how that will affect things.

But I don't have to go to Austin for that, either. Which is why I am not sure there is anything really alluring pulling me there, other than my old roommate.
Austin's music scene is one of the best in the country, though, without a doubt.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
