Hmmm. Something must have happened from his last vote where he put Florida and Oklahoma 1-2. They haven't even played yet.

    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Call it luck, call it blessings, a perfect storm, superior football, whatever, Utah had a season for the ages by any measure. A genuinely historic season. On top of that, if you account for the odds against Utah doing this, and how far they came, few fans have experienced and will ever experience wahat Utah fans experienced this year. That is the capper. The Utes got their chance to play the best, and they rose to the occasion.

They went 13-0 and dominated Alabama in the Sugar Bowl; there was limitless mystique surrounding Alabama, Saban, the SUGAR BOWL, the SEC, Alabama 12-0 in the SEC regular season. The Utes' triumph is complete come what may in the polls. What happened in the Sugar Bowl was not gadgetry; it wasn't even sandlot.

One thing I know, a thousand years after the fall of the American Empire this Utah season will be recorded in history for future generations. Enough said, as far as I'm concerned; an AP no. 1 ranking adds little or nothing and that's what I think of post season polls. I feel the same way abut the Academy Awards and the Pulitzer Prize. I would seriously not trade this season for anyone's whatever the rankings.
      Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Don't look now, SU, but I think you are trying to diminish BYU's accomplishment.

I promised not to diminish genuine accomplishments.

              Like, say, a national championship?

LOL. My whole post is about how meaningless that is compared to events on the field.

So in other words, you promised nothing.

"I will not demean any genuine accomplishment."

Well, what about a national championship, the goal of every team every year?

                  "Not a GENUINE accomplishment."

Well played, counselor. Now, go tell Florida and Oklahoma that they aren't playing for a meaningful, genuine accomplishment. They may disagree, though.
