I think it is the most obvious solution that preserves the BCS and shuts up the only people who have the right to complain.

And Big X/Pac X expansion pulls two or three teams from the MWC, and the autobid disappears. That is why the expansion WILL happen. It's all about the $$$ - keeping as much for the BCS schools as possible...

I think they add a sixth bowl when they add the MWC. It's not like they don't have the $$$ for another $35 mil payout; broadcasting rights alone will cover it.

That way the MWC will get their one team in, and five of the other six BCS conferences will get two teams in every year. If a Houston or Tulane ever "busts" in, they'll draw the MWC champ.

Adding the bowl and splitting it six ways is still more money per conference than adding a bowl and splitting it seven. Expansion eliminates the only threat for an autobid that's out there. It also makes significantly more money for both the Big X and the PAC X. In the past, the extra $$$ from a championship game hasn't been enough to get them to bite. But now, it's expand and get more money, or don't expand and LOSE money. The scales have tipped. There are too many people talking about it who've never talked about it before. It'll happen before they let the MWC in...

Is it me or do I still see an inheret bias in the system to even add a new Conference..

When you add the rankings of ALL teams in each conference, I still see there being bias among the elite BCS conference only because those bottom dwellers are in a BCS conference. Their rankings will continue to be higher then MWC bottom dwellers..

And the fact he did not go into that detail leads me to think they weigh heavy on that 3rd ranking when discussing additions to the BCS.....
