  • Why is CB obsessed with Quezada?

    Is it a TBS thing?

    http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recru...ruitId%3d82861

A 3 star RB recruit that runs a 4.76 40, being recruited primarily by second to third tier schools?

Looks like a decent recruit, but with the chatter, you'd think he was a top 100 recruit.

Have you seen film on him?

If he really runs a 4.76 40, then he plays in a league that is very, very, very slow. The assumption is that he's significantly faster than that and that he is a strong runner with a good change of direction.

Frankly, he may be a better prospect at safety than RB.

      Yep.

Also, CB is in a major recruiting frenzy right now. Any good recruit who "hasn't quite but maybe he will" committed to BYU is getting a lot of attention.

Don't know anything about him. Just the information at that link.

It seems every year there's a guy that gets ridiculously unwarranted hype like Kessman, DiLuigi, and it usually turns out to be TBS fueled. I wondered if this could be something like that.

Part of it (I would think) has to do with the fact that he is one of the few they're going head to head with Utah for.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

                He's gotta have a faster than 4.76 40 time.

He may be closer to 4.76 than 4.40, but he isn't exactly slow.

I am pretty sure Indy did this once on CB, but if two players ran a straight 40 yards with no cuts or adjustments at the end of the 40 yards how far ahead would the guy who runs a 4.3 be over a guy that runs a 4.6?

40 time is among the most idiotic things people think about.

I wouldn't say it's idiotic. It's a pretty good gauge of athleticism. If you're 200 pounds and run a 4.5 40, you're going to be a pretty good athlete. It's not a perfect measure, but it's a pretty good indicator.

I'm pretty sure I did a better writeup than this later on, but here's what I could find.

Kessman had no other offers, and I believe DiLuigi only had Wyoming offer. Quezada has a couple Pac-10 offers (Wash, Stanford), and an offer from Utah which says a ton considering they now only recruit Texas kids who run sub 4.3s. I can understand the skepticism based on some past results, but this kid can play. I think that 4.76 is way off.

DiLuigi was overhyped, but he has not been a bad player. I'm glad he is on the roster. Kessman, on the other hand was a total bust.

People are hungry for any recruiting info because this huge class is all but assembled. I'm curious to know if a single juco player is taken
