I made this point but don't debate Goatnapper on this level. He's counting ant turds, and looking high and low for them.

For ease of reference, here is the final 2008-09 poll. Note the reankings of the teams Utah beat, after Utah beat them:

You do recall that Utah played Navy in 2007, right?

2008 BYU might have been able to beat 2008 Navy, if they weren't too demoralized.

But I think the 2007 Navy team was better than the 2008 team, and I don't think BYU 2007 or 2008 could have defeated that team.

You dont think 2007 BYU could beat 2007 Navy...wow. You guys beat them, and we were better than you. You think 2007 Navy would have gone undefeated in the MWC conference? They were 8-5 with losses to the power house Delaware, Rutgers, ball state ( who was 7-6) and wake forest. What makes you think they were better than BYU that year, besides your red glasses?

Actually, it might be my Navy blue glasses.

The one thing BYU would have going for it was if having Air Forces number translated into defending Navy well.

Or the ability to beat Utah which navy couldn't. Or not losing to a fcs team.

I'm not interested in your BCS conspiracy theories or minutiae like margins of victory or who finished higher in the MWC more times in their career. (Who cares about your subjective opinion. )
Not that Napper needs any help, and certainly not mine, but allow me to put on the stretchy pants and join my brother in a tag team match versus SU and whoever his partner is here. Assuming TCU wins its bowl game (and if it doesn't, Utah 2008 is the winner, I admit), then TCU2009 will be regarded by any unbiased, sentient observer as better than Utah2008. Here's another reason why... TCU2009 is a better all-around team than TCU2008, and yet Utah on its home turf beat TCU2008 by the proverbial skin of its teeth, thanks to a kicker having an off night and other weirdness. Pit TCU2009 vs. Utah 2008 on a neutral field and Vegas makes TCU at least a four-point fave.

BTW, both teams were great. TCU2009 may prove to be greater.

Do you think Navy couldn't do at least as well as Air Force in the MWC?

Given tha Navy has beaten AFA the last 3 years......

Not that I'm partnering with SU, but which team was/is better, 2008 Alabama or 2009 Boise State? Which one had/has the bigger name? Which one belongs to the SEC and which one belongs to the WAC?

Utah's win over Alabama shook the college football world. TCU will beat Boise and it will be seen only as a reaffirmation of last year's Poinsettia Bowl.
