wtf? this makes zero sense to me.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostJim Harbaugh will accept the Kansas job.
They must be throwing millions of reasons at the guy.
Seriously, would you leave Palo Alto/Bay area and millions of dollars for Lawrence and millions of dollars? You don't leave Stanford to Kansas for academics. And not really sure you leave the Pac 10 for the Big 12.
What a truly bizarre career path. It is in no way an upward move and in many ways it isnt even a lateral move.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Sounds like it's 2.6 million at KU versus $700,000 at Stanford (can that Stanford figure possibly be true?)Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postwtf? this makes zero sense to me.

Lawrence isn't as bad as it sounds, but then it ain't Stanford, either. But to me the foremost drawback with the coaching position at KU is that you'll always be playing little brother to basketball.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postwtf? this makes zero sense to me.

Some might see that as an advantage as far as being less pressure.Originally posted by Babs View PostLawrence isn't as bad as it sounds, but then it ain't Stanford, either. Right, but nobody goes to Kansas to be a lifer. You go to a school like Kansas as a stepping stone. But it's harder to get noticed when you're always in the shadow, and you can barely garner the attention of your own AD.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostSome might see that as an advantage as far as being less pressure.

If I remember correctly, his wife is from Kansas and wanted to be closer to her family if possible. Throw in the huge raise and it doesn't seem that crazy. I'm doing the same thing for a LOT less money.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Postwtf? this makes zero sense to me.

He's in the wrong profession or married to the wrong woman if he took that job in Lawrence for his wife. You're only hired to be fired when you're a coach. Maybe he's just doing it so he can hold that over her head for the rest of his coaching career as he moves and moves again.Originally posted by CJF View PostIf I remember correctly, his wife is from Kansas and wanted to be closer to her family if possible. I doubt either will be truly interested.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostWow. I'm really surprised. Bay area vs. Lawrence freaking Kansas? That doesn't appear to be a step up.
Okay, folks, get ready for the Bronco and KW to Stanford rumors.
Both would seem like they would easily fit the profiles of Stanford HC.
I'm sure they'll both be mentioned.Last edited by LA Ute; 12-11-2009, 09:27 PM.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Kansas can be good, they proved that a couple of years ago. Throw in a salary increase of 4x and remove the Stanford standards and it doesn't seem all that crazy to me.Originally posted by Surfah View PostHe's in the wrong profession or married to the wrong woman if he took that job in Lawrence for his wife.
