Thoughts about TCU vs. Boise

There is no question it is a great matchup and could shape up to be one of the best bowl games of the season, but ultimately it is lose-lose for TCU. If TCU wins..."Good job Horned Frogs, you just beat mighty Boise State from the WAC conference in your non-BCS BCS bowl game!" But hey, at least you got a nice payout!!!Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostI'm excited about this game. It might have been the best game of the bowl season last year, and both teams are better.
The difference will be Andy Dalton. BSU simply hasn't faced a QB with the combination of his arm, poise, and talent. Kellen Moore is no slouch, but TCU's defense will be too fast and too well-coached.Last edited by smokymountainrain; 12-07-2009, 07:50 AM.I'm like LeBron James.

Do people really think the BCS bowls conspired with each other to form this matchup to keep the "little guys down?" Do they realize that the BCS didn't even have to pick Boise in the first place? Va Tech was right there.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostComplaining about this only validates the notion that the BCS is nobility. Why is TCU better off playing Iowa than Boise?
This is not the worst possible matchup for TCU. If TCU handles Boise people will respect it more than had it routed Iowa.
Complaining about this on TCU's behalf only arises from fear. Apart from the fact that MWC honor is on the line vs. an upstart mid-major, this is the best possible matchup TCU could have hoped for. Texas or Alabama was not possible, Florida is locked into the SUGAR BOWL, and no way in hell the SUGAR BOWL picks TCU over Cincinnati (especially since Cincinnati leapfrogged TCU in the BCS poll).
Also, there's an order to bowl selection and the bowls are looking to primarily sell tickets and then hopefully get good ratings. The Fiesta didn't have the last at-large selection, the Sugar did. Given the shitty ratings and ticket sales from last year's Orange Bowl, Cincy was the team no one wanted this year.
The Fiesta also had the second overall at-large choice due to Texas's inclusion in the title game. They looked over the selections and they could have either had TCU vs. Boise State, or TCU vs. some boring 2 loss Big 10 team (unless they wanted to pick Cincy, and given WV's ticket sales two seasons ago, they weren't going to pick another Big East team). Boise State actually travels well, the bowl game last year between the two was a great game, and the ratings look to be pretty good. So the Fiesta made the rational decision and went for the best matchup it could get from both ticket sales and TV perspectives.
IIRC, the MWC and WAC have a BCS revenue sharing deal. This year they get to double dip.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I personally would have liked to see how the non BCS schools would have done against the BCS qualifiers. I like things settled on the field.
Now, when TCU or BSU wins, they just beat a team that plays a weak schedule. I don't say that, but last night I heard the, MWC and WAC weak schedule chatter on two different national sports shows.
I know, I know. I shouldn't care what national sports show people think.
