I suppose its harder when you're favored but lose a close one, like BYU did to Utah in 2005.

Losing is no fun, winning is great. I feel great.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Actually, you must have missed the new math.Originally posted by Maximus View PostIn other news, Yale and Harvard are better programs than USC, Texas and Florida, among others.
UtahDan explained earlier this week that the achievements only count if they occurred while you were old enough to remember and enjoy them.
Under that new regime, BYU has basically dominated the U to an extraordinary amount. I can remember back to the 80s, so right now there basically is no rivalry between BYU and Utah. Utah needs to win about 15 more conference championships to even come close. Maybe a Heisman would help, also.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

A few years ago BYU got blown out by Boise at home. Then we went to Boise the next year and lost when we rallied from behind and then missed a chip shot field goal at the end of the game. That loss still stings more than the blowout. To me, anyway.Originally posted by mUUser View PostBeing on the wrong side of a blowout sucks.
The blowout loss to BSU at home stung far worse than the loss to BYU this year.
Being on the right side of a blowout isn't as fun as a last second win though."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I remember exactly where I was for that game; in a hotel in Rosslyn, VA.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostA few years ago BYU got blown out by Boise at home. It was then that I decided Crowton had to go.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

That was the famous "Poppinga victory."Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostThen we went to Boise the next year and lost when we rallied from behind and then missed a chip shot field goal at the end of the game. That loss still stings more than the blowout. To me, anyway.
http://www.deseretnews.com/article/5...-Y-defeat.htmlI'm not going to let some field goal, just because it was off by a few feet, determine something else that isn't true. Honestly, after the game, it felt like a win, even though in the record book it didn't go down as a win. In my mind, it was a win.

Thanks Fiyero. I've heard that term thrown around a lot by Ute Fans and always wondered to what it was referring. I'd always assumed it was some BYU-Utah game.Originally posted by Fiyero View Post

You're in luck! There's been one for years:Originally posted by myboynoah View PostYour side has so many of these arcane terms that someone should really publish a dictionary.
http://www.utefans.net/dictionary.php
Example:
Elder 8 Mile
n. A nickname for former BYU basketball player and returned missionary Travis Hansen, because he looks so damned much like the actor/rapper/rapwriter Eminem in his pseudo-biographical movie "8 Mile," right down to the tattoo he got while on his mission.
